This is fun. They keep battling. They may come up short in the end,....but, they won't quit on us. Stay tuned.

Nice to see Johan step up and deliver a top of the line performance. He must read this board too, that's the kind of start that'll silence guys like me who have been harping on him.
And thank goodness Cuddyer hit that home run, if he hadn't the game might still be going on. Mauer and Morneau didn't have a very good weekend from what I saw, they need to take a cue from Santana and pick it up.

Santana needs to pick it up? Yes, he had an amazing game, probably a top game by any pitcher all season, but the guy who's 2nd in strikeouts, tied for 3rd in wins, and 7th in ERA in the MLB doesn't need to pick it up. With all this, if his support was better, he'd be 1st in wins.
The top guys need to hit better and the owners need to build for NOW not "build for the future."

Because he's good on defense? Honestly dangla, I have no idea. He is an amazing defensive player, yesterday proved it. But with one of the best all around pitching staffs in the MLB we don't need amazing defensive players who can't hit. We need decent defensive players who get a hit more than 1 in every 5 times.

I hope he can't make it the rest of this season. As far as next season, I'll be very curious to see how well this "fitness program" they've just started him on pans out. Early in the year, he had shown signs early in games of being potentially dominant... he hit double digit strikeouts once and had several starts in April & May where he gave up 1 runs and couple where he didn't give up any. If they get pull him away from OCB over the winter, I'm not ready to completely give up on the guy. His sinker can still be nasty, but he has to be able to go 6 or 7 innings for 6 months... not 4 or 5 innings for 2 months.Irishmans Shanty wrote:I hope Boof can't make the starting rotation next season, if that's the case, they should have a pretty good starting staff.
Any why the hell are they starting a fitness program for him in AUGUST?!?! What they hell were they doing with him in March?!

Boof isnt an ace but he would make the starting rotation on any staff in MLB.
He has had enough success to remain part of their plans for the future.
The longer I am around, the more I realize that ballplayers are evaluated on what they can do until its proven they cant do it anymore.
Which one of us said that they should stick with Silva?
Heck, he has been their best pitcher lately.
A lot of these guys have good years followed by not so good folowed by something in between. Baseball is full of them.
The Twins have such players on their team which is why they are .500 this year after being .600 last year.
It appears CHI, CLE an DET have similar issues.
