Honoring a Good Man.

Post by Undercover Hockey Lover »

Spent a terrific Sunday afternoon in Red Lake with at least 800 other people from all over Northern Minnesota at a truly fitting feast of Walleye and Wild Rice with all the fixings; at a celebration honoring a true gentleman sportsman. A little background on this gentleman before I tell you why he was celebrated: I know him as what he is...as well as a dandy hockey player out of Crookston; here's what a gentleman that spoke about him added...a 1970 graduate of Mount Saint Benedict; QB of the undefeated football team. Captain and centreman of his hockey team (details of which other fine posters on this forum can fill you in about). Pitcher and first basemen of the baseball team. Went to play hockey at SCSU and as a Senior was his team's leading scorer with over 40 points and named "Little All-American". And finally played in Europe for a couple of season after college before becoming what he is today. I know him as one of the most cheerful and uplifting individuals I've ever met. Just being in this man's presence with his crooked half smile he always has until it turns to a huge full bucktooth grin will brighten your day...guaranteed. Currently, he's the Father at St. Mary's Mission in Red Lake, Minnesota for the last 10 years, has served parishes large and small all over Northern Minnesota. Congratulations Father Pat Sullivan for your 25 years of dedicated service to the priesthood and the people you have sheparded, helped, counseled and befriended in your lifetime. We pray for your continued strength and excellence in pursueing your calling. A True Fisher of Men.

Played hockey with Father Patrick at SCSU.
Lot of fun.
He was, and probably still is, a darn good hockey player.

I did not know where he was.

Thanks for the update and here are well wishes for father Sully.

I expect that Slappy and Shanty will weigh in on some HS stories soon enough.

I probably won't because he wouldn't want me telling them on this bored.

Truly one of the finest people on the planet.

He took me to my first BSU hockey game when I was 11 yrs. old.

He also was the priest at my wedding and also baptized 2 of my children.
