Crookston Roseau or Warroad 08 Section Champs?
Looks to be an interesting up coming season. Which team wants it most? Who has put in the most effort for improvement this off season? Word has it there will be alot of young talent moving up this year for all teams. The vets better get off their duffs and start working hard or could find themselves in an unpleasant role this winter. The Eastsiders will also be improved this year. Goaltending has really started to pick up for the Pirates and will be solid. T-Moe and the Pirate girls will be back at State in 2008. CV will be unable to resist the big cuddly teddy bear and will say yes to his proposal at state in 2008. Keep the fire hot teddy, every no brings you closer to your next yes.

This should be a battle between these 3 teams. I would expect allrink#1 wrote:I hope crookston or Roseau. Warroad's "recruiting mission" is getting old" My daughters AAA summer team has had enough of the move north philosophy1.
3 teams to be ranked in the top 5 in the state rankings. It's too bad all 3 can't go, or at least 2 of the 3. I believe Section 8 will be the strongest section this year.

Okay im sorry but obviously your daughters AAA must be jealous. Its summer hockey its supposed to be fun. Your supposed to play with other girls from other towns and get to meet other girls. Its supposed to be fun. & I would really like to kno who warroad is recruiting. Because i havent heard anything yet. Warroads girls team is going to be comming back for revenge this year in sections after they got ripped off last year in the section championship against crookston with crookston reffs. Im deffinately not saying crookston didnt deserve it cuz the did jus as much as Warroad would have. But the reffing was still horrible and i kno thats not Crookstons fault obviously but still.

Warroad does seemed to get singled out when it comes to recruiting. Even if someone does move somewhere doesn't mean they were recruited. They might have just seen a better opportunity there and took it. And other towns do it too so don't just blame Warroad. Warroad, Roseau, and Crookston all three have a chance to make it to state this year. It will probably come down to who wants it more and who is willing to work the hardest to get it. I'm expecting this to be one of the toughest sections in the state.

Agree it is going to be one very tough section! It will be fun to see how the season progresses and then when play-offs hit how it all plays out and the puck bounces.
Have to agree, also, that many towns have transfers so one lone town or team being singled out is unfair. People move for a variety of reasons and many, many teams have transfers. It is a family's choice to make.

The only new recruit for the Pirates this upcoming season is a gal by the name of Carrie. Congratulations to head coach T-Bear and Carrie on thier recent engagement! One of the Pirates top players just got out of the hospital after a one week stay, possibly West Nile/Viral menagitis. Hope you are feeling better soon Lex and best of luck to you & the Pirates this upcoming season. Work X-tra hard girls and you will once again find yourselves at State in 2008.rink#1 wrote:I hope crookston or Roseau. PS Crookston does have a nice new High School and will be building a new 3 rink facility soon. If any of you talented southerners are looking to relocate please send me an e-mail and I will get you connected.

kk...I'm pretty sure you can't get on there case about talking about he reffing in that game. When there is about a minute left in the game and one team is down by one goal, they call a time out, they pull the goalie, they pretty much have one good chance to get a play and put a goal in the net. Then the ref drops the puck before they were even at the face off. You can't even try to say that is good reffing. Especially when a week later the ref calls the coach and apologizes.

Yeah, being from a northern town that use to play against warroad's boys teams, I do find that absolutely hilarious. Especially since high school doesn't tend to use hometown refs for playoff games, but maybe it's different for girls. Even still, to hear a person from Warroad complain about that is just too much.

First off, the ref's weren't from Crookston in that game, maybe the linesman was? Secondly, Warroad was whistled 2 or 3 times to get their team back on the ice during the timeout, which they IGNORED, so what else was the ref suppose to do? I believe one of the ref's called a horrible penalty on a Crookston player with 3 minutes to go. A very questionable penalty, that at that point in the game, should of never been called. I might also add, that Crookston TOTALLY dominated that game in the third period. Warroad couldn't hardly get it out of their own end. The better team won the game that night, with no help from the reffing.hockeylife, mylife wrote:kk...I'm pretty sure you can't get on there case about talking about he reffing in that game. Well, first of all. I'm just gunna say the reffing that game sucked. Both ways. One ref was from Crookston that game because the ref that was originally supposed to do the game couldn't. Both teams played hard and Crookston did deserve to go to state just as much as Warroad based on the team's talent and skills. It just happened that Crookston had a better night. And on the rumor about the trophy thingy. How immature do you think a highschool team can be. The truth behind that is that there was only one senior on the Warroad team last year. After the game the coach gave the trophy to the senior to have for a while. Being upset, as most of the team was, after the loss the senior simply forgot it in the locker room when she took her bag. It was forgotten and not intentionally left. The rumors on these message boards are worse then highschool. I think everyone should grow up a little bit.

That was a nice jesture on Izzy's part. She was a quality defensemen and deserved to have the trophy for awhile.hockeylife, mylife wrote:Well, first of all. So, what is it called when the kid moves up without either parent?! That is what I hear is happening with 2 of the new players (but they are not recruited of course). And, no, they aren't living with a grandparent or other relative. I actually heard that Warroad has 3 new players that luckily registered for school before the April deadline. The 2 non-recruits and 1 from 20 miles to the west.rink#1 wrote:I think it's called recruiting when one or both parents get's jobs at the window factory when there are no registered openings! Down here in the cities, we call it "convenient openings"!
But they don't recruit, c'mon people, stop picking on them!!

If so, I just don't get it. They have a nice team without recruiting anybody!

The two players you may be refering to, from what I know, come from schools that have no real viable option for hockey. Being good players who want to compete at a somewhat elite level have only one or two real options. Play for the Tbreds ( too young) or transfer. Would it make you feel any better if they enrolled at say Hill-Murray or Blaine or possibley... say...Roseau. The reality is they felt Warroad offered a chance to play competative hockey in an enviroment they felt comfortable at. Take that grape out of you mouth it's starting to sour.

Oh, I see. On their own they decided to find someone to live with and move a couple hundred miles from their parents and families??!! Now THAT is funny!hockeyheaven wrote:The two players you may be refering to, from what I know, come from schools that have no real viable option for hockey. You keep telling yourself whatever you want hockeyheaven. I happen to live in Warroad and have seen the recruiting that goes on with my own eyes. You can maybe blow smoke for some of the other posters, but there is nothing you can do to make me believe you!

RoseauWarrior, please except my apology, I just assumed your intrests lied out side out side of Warroad. Wait a minute... if you are from Warroad.... huh... what is your issue again? Let me get this straight your hacked off that you have too many quality players? I could be mistaken but, by years end your team had barly two servicable lines. I would think you would be thrilled with the extra players. Do you also get upset when the boss offers you a raise each year? When you go fishing do you land just one little crappie and call it a day? Maybe you hav'nt heard about this little issue call "transfer". Most schools are annoyed when they loose players not gain them. Ask Woodbury, or Hopkins, or even WBL, they would gladly take those players. As far as living away from their family, never heard of prep schools like Shattack. furthermore, these girls are probably staying with friends they made playing on summer teams, and I'm sure it's an inconvience for everyone involved, but that's what friends do for friends. Just calm down and look forward to your trip down to the Twin Cities in Feburary.

Recruiting
"Servicable Lines"?......I believe Roseau and Crookston only skated two lines as well, but they're not out there recruiting players. These two teams go with what's coming up from their youth programs. I believe Warroad has some good 14U players coming up, so why do they have to go out to get players? I will tell you why. It's because, unless they get to state, they're season is considered a failure. I wouldn't look forward to Warroad making a trip down to the Cities in Feb., just yet! They thought that last year and Crookston sent them home early. They still have to get by the "home grown" girls from Roseau and Crookston!
