True, but I don't think they ever lost "Most Hated" status
When Edina left the elite status for a couple of years, I think AHA held the most hated crown. I have a hard time kicking someone when they're down, even Edina.

Indians forever wrote:What's the difference between Elite 1 and Elite 2 Hockey????
Elite 1 is suppose to be the top 100 or so players in the state. Elite 2 is the next tier of players. Their websites may be more defining.
There will be players on Elite 2 that should be playing on Elite 1. There will be some players on Elite 1 that will make you scratch your head and wonder why they aren't playing in Elite 2. Overall, the players end up playing where they should.
If you weren't picked to play Elite 1, Elite 2 is a nice way to get extra games and extra work in before the high school season starts.
help me out then why is there so much talk about Elite 2? Where is Elite 1 or are they done???

I was out at New Hope today. I went back and forth to the game you are referring to and the game going on in the other rink. I didn't see domination by Northwest. Northwest started out with the lead and held it. Southwest came within a goal at the end. Northwest parked an empty netter to finish 6 to 4.
The game had good pace and was fun to watch.
For anyone that wants to watch good hockey prior to the high school season, I highly recommend watching the Elite League games. Lots of talent, good hockey.
I was there yesterday to watch Great Plains play. They looked good in their first game in a 6-3 win over southeast. Was 6-1 going into the 3rd. Their 2nd game against Southwest was close for the most part, except for a 3 minute span in the 2nd where Southwest scored 4 unanswered. 6-2 for southwest. Lots of good players on all teams!
For anybody who questions the impact of the Elite League in the scouting world, this league continues to attract some pretty impressive coaches. Both head coaches and assistants. Typically head coaches leave the recruiting to their assistants. I attended games at St Louis Park and New Hope these past 2 weekends.
Coaches that I saw include Owens & Bonnett (Colorado College), Lucia (Minnesota), Donato (Harvard), Hastkol (North Dakota), Montgomery (RPI), Motzko & Gibbons (St Cloud), Gilling (Bemidji), Sandelin & Rohlik (Duluth), Slaggert (Notre Dame), Workman (Brown), and Whittet (Dartmouth). There were probably more.
Can't say that Elite 2 or AAA programs have the same impact (in fact nothing close). This coming weekend will also have a huge turnout of college coaches to the Elite League, again to be held at New Hope. Most coaches will be in town to attend the NAHL Showcase starting on Wednesday at Blaine's SuperRinks.

For those who are not aware of it, this NTDP is the under 18 team, not the U17 team. This is their warmup event before they start their college schedulue in the 1st weekend of October (against Maine Black Bears). After this showcase event, then the U17 team plays in the balance of league games of the NAHL.

I saw at least 4 pro scouts last weekend as well.
Many of the pro scouts are away this weekend at their respective organizations training camps. With the Wild being a local team, many of their scouts were in attendence during the Saturday evening games.
