What makes people think D6 is going to take Lakeville. I spoke with the D6 DD and he said that D6 has no intention of letting Lakeville in.
Maybe people have heard something different.
There are already enough teams in D6, Lakeville is not needed unless some other teams are dropped.
I still think Lakeville should take AV, EV, B'ville and Shak, and form a new D8. Then D6 can add Hopkins, Wayzata, Armstrong/Copper. Use the river as a divider
Just a thought.

Thanks
Elliott, thanks for updating us all on which region/division Lakeville has been assigned. It was just last week, Sept 16th that several members of LHA went to Moorehead and made a presentation to MN Hockey and the info they had at that time was they were in the Central region/division. You can even go to LHA's website and see a copy of the presentation proving these facts. I again want to thank Elliott for his clarifications on this subject. He seems to be the only one associated with MN Hockey that is interested in informing the public on ongoing issues and changing policies. Elliott you are the right man for the job. Thanks again.

The famous email
Below is Rick's email to the LHA president explaining his reason he decided against the move. It seems to be purely an "ego minded" no vote as no reasons were given other then it would not be fair to the others.

Tim: I said that I would get back to you with a decision before I left for vacation. I have reviewed your request to be moved into District 6. I have decided against your request. The inter district league play that was voted on is for a one year trial basis for the A and B Peewee and Bantam levels only. This will not affect Girls, Squirts,
B2 Peewee and Junior Gold level teams which will stay as before. Being that this was voted on by the Associations, my feeling is that all Associations need to try it for one year then we proceed from there. I also do not feel by granting this move that I will be fair to the other Associations that voted no on this issue

Re: Thanks
The Lakeville gentleman were not aware of it when they came to Moorhead. At least that was the impression I got.Slapshotdude wrote:Elliott, thanks for updating us all on which region/division Lakeville has been assigned. Apparently DD4 & DD8 along with some others re-worked the alignment shortly prior to the Moorhead meeting based on feedback from the D4 & D8 associations.
And thank you, but everyone on this board and elsewhere are deserving of this information. The more knowledgable all of us are the better we can manage the situations.
Why don't folks (like the earlier Lakeville parent poster) know about the change to playing in the North Division?
It would seem the LHA board would have communicated this information to members by now and solicited input before acting. Nothing on the LHA website. Good question to ask LH at the 10/1 hearing.

the facts
If you read the above email you'll find that only A and B peewee and bantams will move to the new region. That's 12 teams out of 35 total traveling teams. So I guess the other 23 traveling teams will have to wait a few more years. The more I study the process and the progress of this realignment issue combining D8 and D4 the dumber it all sounds. Lakeville pack your bags and get ready for D6. It is the only solution where all of the team's benefit.

The Mn Hockey E Directory lists Bloomington Kennedy and Bloomington Jefferson as separate and also has listed a different president for each group, if both groups are part of another orginazation it is not listed on the Mn Hockey site. In the registration of teams both Kennedy and Jefferson are listed separately, Lakeville, Rochester, Duluth, Mankato, Osseo/Maple Grove and St Cloud are listed as a single association even though they field multiple teams at most levels.

The information is not correct - or at least official, unless some associations decided to play A hockey where they haven't before and if Rochester is fielding 3 B teams which is contrary to their website and their decision in July. Plus their is no guarentee Lakeville even stays in District 8. Also this is a change from what they posted just a week ago. Seems more like speculation than anything.

Lakeville and the District 4/8 Merger
From the outside looking in, it appears Lakeville is trying to play better competition (District 6) closer to home. The latest proposed alignment (according to stickstats) has Lakeville playing teams within a 50 miles radius. I know teams in District 4 that would LOVE to have that problem. As far as the proposed D-8/D-4 alignment, I have no problem with it if they allow ALL District 4 teams to play (qualify) for the District 4 tournament. Why should an Albert Lea get to play Luverne/Sleepy Eye/St Peter type teams all year while Austin is playing the Rochester/New Prague/Shattuck's of the world?
The info is right off the D8 website. Lakeville must have persuaded the district boards to tweek the alignment a little bit.goldy313 wrote:The information is not correct - or at least official, unless some associations decided to play A hockey where they haven't before and if Rochester is fielding 3 B teams which is contrary to their website and their decision in July. Somebody made reference to Rochester's website indicating 2 BTB teams. The website is not very accurate or current in many cases. If you want to know what's up call Doug Zmolek.

Hard work for what?
Hear is a question for all the critics, cynics and doubters. If Lakeville is in the wrong for asking out of D8 then why is D8 going to great lengths to rearrange the teams for the same reasons. And explain away this, many in D8 agree with Lakeville that something needs to change.
