Whats going on in Stillwater?

Post by original6 »

On the last night of "A" bantam tryouts the head "A"coach resigns. Then a day later he's back again. Whats going on? Anybody know? Is this the most messed up association in the state?

Why would they do that? Thats a long way for their families to travel for district games.

I didn't get it because nothing would suprise me with the group they have/had running the show over there.

But, I'll admit, it was very good.

Agreed. They might have tried to go to 11, who knows?

Just checking. I heard on the "street" today the coach had to resign due to his ice bill at the arena. They would not let him in until he paid up. He could not get the $ so he had no choice but to resign. His long time backer gave him the cash the following morning so with the bill paid he is now back in. How messed up is that???

Good Luck Stillwater...

So lets get this straight..this coach obviously has a kid playing or wouldn't have an ice bill.. right....?who is this backer? a parent? if all this is so...it's pretty messed up.
If if the guys in a hardship that's different, but if he's a freeloader well then he deserves what he gets, which leads me to this...why would Stillwater embarrass this guy if they want him to coach? wouldn't they work something out a bit more privately.
Sounds like there is more then an unpaid ice bill to worry about over there.

Bantam A coaches will buy extra ice early to get the best times, before the team is even picked. The parents will pay for it after tryouts. Sounds like he has a bill from last year yet, and I have NO idea how that happened...

They had to get the right coach in place to make sure no private school kids got named captain again.
Interesting to see how tryouts go for those kids not attending SAHS.

I'm confused, on when the youth hockey association was ever part of the school district.

Maybe all the players thinking of attending a private school should get out of the youth program, they wouldn't be playing high school at stillwater, so they shouldn't play either.

Oh, wait - free country. We get to choose where we go to school.

The thing is, Moose is one of the best coaches the state of minnesota has ever had, and I'm not talking about wins and losses because there is only so much he can do with what he's got. But there is not a more dedicated, caring, coach in high school hockey.

Phil was a great and probably still is a great hockey player. Probably the greatest American player ever. But that doesn't make you a good coach. I know there is sarcasim in your comment, and I appreciate that but phil couldn't hold moose's jock. In fact he couldn't hold the jock of most of the coaches in high school hockey.

Is it true that some Stillwater parents of potential or current Bantam A players were contacted before tryouts and told their son would be playing B1 Bantams rather than Bantam A due to their son going to Hill Murray?
