Oct 19-20: Minnesota-Twin Cities @ Colorado College
This weekend the 2-0 University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Golden Gophers are traveling to Colorado Springs, Colorado to face off against the Colorado College Tigers. The Golden Gophers will be without the services of Junior forward Ryan Stoa for the remainder of the 2007-2008 season after Stoa suffered a knee injury during last Saturday's game against the University of Michigan in the IceBreaker Invitational.
Last Weekend:
Minnesota-Twin Cities
- Friday: defeated RPI 4 to 3
- Saturday: defeated Michigan 4 to 3
Colorado College
- Friday: defeated US U-18 Team 6 to 3 (exhibition)
Thoughts or predictions on this WCHA match-up?

Going to be a tough series for either team. Word is that CC is on the ups this year and should be towards the top of the league. I think the Gophers will have to turn in a better defensive effort than last weekend, but with so many young defensmen, it could have been jitters and this weekend could be better. Frazee will need to tighten up on those rebounds as opposed to last weekend. Wheeler and Okposo need to keep working like they do and should be good for at least 1 goal a piece for the weekend. I'll have to say that I like the Gophs for either a sweep or a split on the weekend.

Those 4 already served their suspension and will be on the ice this weekend. Talked to Jimmy Kilpatrick's brother and it sounds like he'll be back on the ice for them as well following his surgery. All good news for the Tigers... not good enough though. Scott Owens is still an idiot.pacman wrote:Gophers Sweep, 4 of CC's Top guys got suspended from the game this week for pulling off some gimmick thing at the teams golf outing where the immitated black people i guess heres the article

Gophers sweep.
After reading the article, I think this is the biggest load of BS I have ever seen. What is the big deal with them painting their faces dark if they were trying to imitate a black family. Is there something wrong with trying to be black. Should we suspend the guys that tried to be the three stooges for trying to be white. I'm against racism as much as anybody, but this wasn't racist at all. I'm not entirely sure why black people were offended by this. I've seen the show "Family Matters" The family is a black family. Sorry, I know I'm off topic, but I had to get that out of my system. The reverse racism and over claiming racism in this country is killing me.
In a way I kind of agree, but they have to have the awareness that not everybody will take it lightly. That's just the way it is, so they need to be smart enough to not be stupid.theref wrote:After reading the article, I think this is the biggest load of BS I have ever seen. Besides, they should have chosen Kate & Allie instead of Family Matters anyway... it's a much funnier show.

I'm thinking this will be a fairly close series and the Gophers will need to buckle down defensively against the Tigers, especially in Colorado Springs. I still think Minnesota-Twin Cities will have enough to salvage one game...I'm going to say they even win Friday night on the road, but then the Tigers come back and force the split with an impressive performance on Saturday. Looking forward to the games!

I agree with that nike.
The gophs are not very sharp in this early going.
Hopefuly, the tape to tape passes we are used to seeing will show up soon.
I believe they have the talent, they just need to mesh together.
I do think that Fairchild is going to turn out to be the next in a long line of great Gopher defensemen. He looks tough.
Go Gophers.

Fairchild was a great youth player up in Duluth. He has done well in his development path. He made a few mistakes last night. However, great jump in the rush play and I agree that he is going to be a great Gopher defensemen.

The Tigers were able to follow up their season opening 3 to 1 victory over the Golden Gophers on Friday night with a 2 to 1 overtime victory over Minnesota-Twin Cities in the second WCHA game of the season for both squads.
The Tigers are now sitting at 2-0 overall and in the WCHA on the season while the Golden Gophers fell to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the WCHA so far for the 2007-2008 campaign.
Final Outcome:
Colorado College Sweep
