Walser has teams both at the U16 and U19 divisions. They don't go by Walser Ford specifically, as they differentiate the teams by different colors, such as White, Blue and Red, as opposed to Ford, Mazda, etc.

Team Illinois U16 is very talented this year - great team to watch.

The tournament schedule has changed and details are below. Long story short - SSM was notified yesterday that 3 of the teams from Minnesota were not properly registered with USA Hockey to play in a U16 tournament. These teams all had a few U19 age eligible players and did not get the approval necessary to play in a U16 tournament.

A great turnout of Division I and Division III college coaches and scouts are scheduled to be on hand to watch the 14 teams that will be playing over the weekend. Therefore the tournament structure has changed to 3 pools of 4 teams and both SSM teams will not participate in tournament play (though they will play some exhibition games).

Not typical at all... and one thing caused the restructuring of the tournament.

SSM was notified yesterday that 3 of the teams from Minnesota were not properly registered with USA Hockey to play in a U16 tournament. These teams all had a few U19 age eligible players and did not get the approval necessary to play in a U16 tournament.

That caused a few wrinkles.

However, given that SSM found out about this 2 days before the beginning of a tournament where a number of teams are travelling a siginificant distance - plus the fact Division I and Division III college coaches and scouts are scheduled to be on hand to watch the 14 teams that will be playing over the weekend - I'd say things are going very well.

By being creative and flexible, the SSM coaching staff has made it possible for all of the teams will be able to play (at the correct levels) to showcase their talents to the D1 and D3 coaches and scouts.

You're welcome... just trying to help a little by posting the latest info as quickly as possible.

If you or your daughter is involved in this tournament - please take a moment sometime this weekend to thank both SSM Coaches Gordie Stafford and Eric Darwitz for their efforts in restructuring this tournament. It was not a trivial task and the result was fantastic: all the teams/girls will have the opportunity to play in fornt of the D1/D3 coaches/scouts.
