How are they a new team did they get a new coach? They have all the same guys but a different goalie, who, I don't think is as good.

Greenline, probably the best thing that has happened to West is that they got beat last year is the Section semi's. Can you say wakeup call to alot of the players. The team has spent a huge amount of time in strength and conditioning over the summer and throughout this fall. I think they will be one of the contending teams in a very balanced Section.

Red Wing would be the best team in section 1a, unfortunately they still have kesti.

top 3

1. lourdes
2. red wing
3. new prague

Lourdes a decent pick, but if Scudamore is there only option in net, they better not allow many shots. From what I have seen of him, any shot may be a good shot.
RW- tell me why everyone is so high on them.
NP- I'd put them above the other two

Section 1A

Post by grafmaster »

Looking forward to some exciting games, glad to hear of the cakewalk teams no longer in the section and adding some real comeptition. Dont know much about the new teams except lourdes and new prague, but think it should be a real tossup, no clear winner in sight for me.

That is a little harsh don't you think. From what i have seen of him he is very average. Does not move very well and never seems to make a clean save. He does not seem like a goalie that would be able to steal a game when needed and sometimes a team needs a goalie to be able to do that.

I thought the same thing with regard to being harsh but, also agree with your observations. Will need to cut down the rebounds off the pads, control and see the puck a little better. He'll be fine.

bstarr, you are right if he can control his rebounds he will be very strong between the pipes, but if he can't can somebody say GARBAGE GOALS!!

Ben Walkins AL will prolly be the best or one of the top goalers in the section. Hes been stuck behind French and Casanova for some time, and is finaly going to have a chance to prove himself. Lourdes' goalie will prolly be good. Cant say for sure, ive never seen him. Thats pretty much it.

You guys are both right with the goalies from AL and Lourdes being tought to score on. I believe the new goalie that is coming up for Mankato West this year is supposed to be good...or so I have heard.

I agree with the AL goalie, but i don't know if i'm sold on the lourdes goalie. I saw him play some games for the Elite II team, and he didn't look too solid. I know he's playing against real good competition but i wasn't sold. I also heard his save percentage was in the 70s when he was the goalie for Elite II. The west goalie is solid, and i think east has a good goalie coming back from an injury. Century's goalie is also a big guy who can cover alot of net and has a great team surrounding him

im sure bruggerman will do fine, but hes never played a varsity game in his high school career, Walkins in good. Judging by all of this talk i take it that the Lourdes goalie is shakey. Is mayo in 1aa? because there goalie was good. not the big starter last year but the back up he looked good

Yea it will be interesting how the goalie situation will turn out. Bruggeman will have to make the big jump from jv to varsity. i haven't heard much about the austin goalie. we'll see how some of the big goalies do in the owatonna scrimmages this weekend. i know they're scrimmages but we can find out if they will be good or not. I know east, owatonna, northfield, and some others are in that scrimmage. someone help me out on the other teams coming if they know?

West is at Princeton Sat...probably a waste of time, but next Friday in Kato it is East,West, Lourdes and Albert Lea in a round robin scrimmage. I think each team plays each other in a 45 minute scrimmage. Should be fun to watch as far as scrimmages go
