I guess it depends on what you are going for.
Baseball- Football = CDH
Hockey = Hill ......opps forgot Shattuck
Football = Eden Prairie.....oh sorry they aren't private but it's okay for them to recruit for football as long as it's not hockey.
Academics = Mounds Park Academy, SPA
Military = St Thomas

St. Thomas will win both A and AA this year and every year following, until 2020. :D

Well thank you, thank you very much.

CDH is by far the best non public school you can attend.

There really isnt anything close.

It has great academics and ROTC , if you want it.

Its affordable when compared to the Brecks, Blakes, SPA's and STAs.

Its athletic teams play at the highest level in all sports and are very successful, especially the "major" sports. No "B-Squad" mentality here.

You could make an argument that CDH is the best school , public ,private parochial or otherwise, in the state period.

Any questions?

St Agnes is a great place.

As is St Paul Central and St Bernards.

But the best is CDH.

How fun would it be if kids stayed where they came from. That would be Minnesota hockey at it's finest!

If this thread turns into yet another public vs. private topic, it gets locked, and any future topics which even smell of the same will be deleted as soon as they're started.

Just so you know.

Clearly Shattuck is a branch of the NHL. Other private schools are good, but as a pure hockey factory there is only one - Shattuck .

I toured a bunch of the different private schools a couple of years back and I found they were all pretty different, with different strengths and weaknesses. The "best" private is the one that fits your own goals in life, academically, athletically and with respect to ethics and character.

windy, Thats absolutely true with any school for any one individual but that begs the question.

Which school will that most likely be for the most people?

I say its CDH.

And here is another thing: When some loud bragger tries to put me down and says his school is great, I tell him right away ...Now whats a matter buddy aint yah heard of my school , its #1n the state....

Sure goldy, make fun of ROTC. And when you make fun of ROTC arent you indeed indicting our educational institutions in general? I put it to you goldy- isnt that an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can post whatever you want abput CDH but I am not going to sit here and read your posts badmouthing the United Sates of America! Gentlemen.

I have sent two of my kids through CDH and my last one is at St. Bernard's. I will have to agree that CDH is my pick by far. CDH just has a winning attitude all around with the academics, athletics, and all the extra activities it has to offer. From a tuition cost standpoint CDH and St. Bernard's are almost the same cost. The difference is St. Bernard's offers a much smaller class size mostly 100 or under. I do know kids at some of the other private schools and of course they really like the schools they are in.

A lot of it comes down to where the parents may have gone and even further down the family line. I can tell you that since around 1989 CDH has had to turn down 100 to 150 freshman each year. I am am not sure if the others have to do the same or not, can't speak from experience.

Bottom line, there are many good schools out there just check them out before you choose.

Thanks tomASS for posting that nice picture of Mitch and Lee. Its rare that you can get a good shot of them together.

It looks like this photo was taken while they were monitoring the board and reviewng a naughty post that contained some political content.
