Buffalo scrimmage results-

BSM 3
Buffalo 1

Buffalo up 1-0 with Zitter in the net...BSM got the best of play but Buffalo number one line looked good. BSM as usual has plenty of talent top to bottom.

Buffalo 3
Orono 1

Bison out shoot Orono 2-1 after a 6am practice and immediately following the BSM scrimmage. Bad news for Bison all three 1st line kids strained their groins...could have been a little much to ask from them but all will be ready when season starts against Wayzata...

I think when your exhausted it becomes more likely...seemed a little much to have a 6am practice followed by two scrimmages at 3:45 pm and 5PM...sounds like a excuse but Buffalo guys were exhausted...

I said earlier in another thread that BSM was gonna be good this year, they are under ranked in the LPH preseason rankings too, and so is Tonka, and Anoka. JMHO

You Bison have packed a lot of scrimmage in the 1st week, how many is that now in 5 days? EP, BSM, Orono, and I think i'm missing one.
I do admit that would be fun though...at least for us parents.

Just home from Grand Rapids
H-M 5 GR 0
H-M 2 Rochester 0
H-M 3 Hibbing zero in a scrimmage shortened because of rough play

Don't hold me to these stats, but Singerhouse 3 goals Cecka 3 Goals Zepeda 1 goal and Sova 1 goal Not sure who got the other 2. Pioneers dominated all three games and looked very good. Lines were Furne between Cecka and Zepeda. Singerhouse between Widing and Kohls. Prescott between Cascelenda and Westerhouse. Not sure on the 4th line totally as Metcalf was out sick.

Warroad...Heard about the 7 pm with Little Falls and saw Warroad - DL at 9pm. Was told Little Falls controlled play more than Warroad said around 25 total shots on net both teams combined with LF having a slight favor; lots of missed nets by both teams. But Warroad "won" 1 - 0 with a goal by #10 near the end of the hour. Looked like a typical first scrimmage was the main comment. Warroad shutout DL by at least 5 and DL only had 4 shots hit the net the whole hour. Warroad without Ravndalen and Shaugabay both nicked up and sat both match-ups ; don't know about tomorrow. It sounded like LF must have schooled DL also. DL had what seemed to be a short bench and had a nice player or two. How do you put it nicely? Well...their goalie played real well. :|

Hill Murray dominated completely. The team seemed to play with more cohesion than at any point last year. The Singerhouse, Widing, Kohls line seemed particularly strong, and the Furne, Cecka, Zepeda line was good as well. This is a team that has two lines so talented that I don't know if you can call them 1 and 2, but more like 1a and 1b!! Phillipi was steller in the nets and I agree with the writer who says his experience in state tournaments is much more important than his performance in previous state tournaments. This team definately has a legitimate shot at the state title!! The graduation of Nick Larson may have actually helped team chemistry as there is no one person so under the spotlight as to draw attention away from the TEAM!! I look forward to a stellar season from this talented group!

Not to take anything away from HM, but didn't they bring their final rostered team?

I believe these other teams are still amidst tryouts.

[Phillipi was steller in the net

Were you actually at the game? Phillippi is out with a sprained ankle for another week. Goaltending was split between McGinley and a new kid on the JV They did both look pretty good though. Yes H-M did have their final Varsity team

Yesterday/Last Night

Hill 5 GR 0
GR 4 Roch. Century 0

GR 4 Roch. Century 2

GR vs Bemidji later today.

Looks to still be a feeling out process so far for GR. Still, flashes of some very, very good things. This will be a very good hockey team when all is said and done.

Goaltending : Outstanding
Forwards : Need to gel, but fast and skilled
Defense : Will be solid as they progress. Kosak, Rendle & Bishop looked very good. Others still in the mix : Serratorre(Sr.)Horseman(Jr. DNP),Merritt(Soph.)Kleinendorst(Soph.)Leingang(Jr.)

Outlook is positive for this team.

Hill must have incredible depth. With Phillipi not in the nets & have 2 goalies with no varsity experience step in & hold 3 pretty good teams scoreless in 3 hours of scrimmages is outstanding.

They played very well defensively and didn't give up many good scoring chances. Their defensive group looks excellent.

Yeah Brainerd played their top 3 lines and Tech played their top 3 lines. Brainerd posted 2 early goals from Drew Olson and Tech came back with 3 unanswered to win by one. Lot of hitting, very physical game.
