Skate Problems

Post by LetsPlayHockey22 »

The back of my skates (RBK Pumps), more specifically the back tongue if you know what im talking about, is starting to tear. Is that fixable or should I just get new skates?

How far down? If the tounge is going flat it isn't a big deal unless your really touchy about skates. If the tear is getting to the point where you can't keep your skate on while you skate you probably can't fix that and should just get them replaced.

Get them fixed before its too late. My son's ripped in the same spot and we waited too long and had to get new skates. Just make sure your achilles is covered.

If you can afford a new pair I would do it rather than spend any money fixing the Reebok basketball shoe/skate. The pump is a stupid idea. Why would anyone want to have balloons on their feet. Its a marketing gimick. Nike and Reebok are not helping hockey players by trying to use basketball bling on hockey equipment. If you can't afford to replace them then go to a good shoe repair shop.

As a previous poster said- make sure your achilles tendon is protected. If it gets cut, your season is over.

What is the report on the CCM vectors? I have had tacks for a number of years and am looking for a new pair of skates. I want to stay with the CCM because of thhe wider boot but I can't find any tacks that aren't 4-5 years old. How are the vectors? 4.0? 6.0? 8.0?

I used to wear Vector Pros until I got the RBK's and loved them. The pump however i have never used, its useless, the skates themselves are very comfortable and not once hurt my feet trying to break them in, however when i used the vectors i never had problems with them so I think im going back to the CCM's
