From Buffalo:

Games I saw:

Hopkins 3 or so
Chaska 1

Edina 5 or so
Chaska 0

Buffalo 2
MTKA 2

Minnetonka brought 22 skaters not sure how much many of them played...Buffalo had 17 skaters...Play edge went to Minnetonka but Buffalo was missing 2 first line forwards...which may have made a difference in the quality of scoring chances for the Bison.

Many good games in Buffalo over the weekend...unfortunately only got a chance to watch a few...Edina looked impressive as they have some very good players but i wonder if they are better then last year when their current 1st liners dominated other teams second liners...this year their second line didn't look as dominant but they definately run a great system and move the puck with the efficency other teams can only pray for...and I think if your an Edina defensemen and get beaten to the puck you may be benched for the rest of the season..Anyway they are very tough.

Agreed, Edina looked extremely good against Chaska. Rosemount looked very good when they scrimmaged Edina.

Looks as though Rogers represented themselves well and as i said will be a tough team to beat (and score on) during the season.

Of the games I saw Blake is pretty solid, and so was STA, TG was missing a couple of top players I'm told??
Lourdes will be a good team as well.
Defense is good size and solid for Rogers, and believe they are trying to figure out the fwds. because of the mass exodus of Srs. last year.
Different players played in each of the 3 scrimmages giving those that are on the bubble their shot to make it.

I thought the Rogers goalies Jr.(vs TG), and the Soph.(vs Lourdes) played best, but not nessasarily in that order.

All in all you could tell it was the 1st scrimmages for Rogers, not a lot of scoring with all the mix and match lines, but that's what they're for. :D

They could be on the Football team? They can't skate until State is done.

The Blake- STA scrimmage was very even. Both teams had chances. Both teams had some D zone problems, pretty typical for 2 quality teams. 1-1 was the "score".
....Can't thank you enough for the time.

cdh

Post by saintpaulhockey »

CDH beat Lakeville North 7-1 and tied Red Wing 2-2.
Both were one hour scrimmages, CDh is still down a few football players and had a JV goalie playing a lot. Red Wing looked pretty solid though. Lakeville North should have some serious difficulty this year!

cdh vs red wing and lakeville north

Post by RBK26 »

in the scrimmages vs lakeville and red wing i thought cdh looked pretty good. There defense looked okay, a little nervous i am guessing. Alt looked very good on defense though. First goalie looked good. There top line of bohrer, bangs, and stupka was very good. I think they scored every goal. There going to need there second line with zimmerman to start scoring or they might have trouble scoring this year with only one line producing. overall good scrimmages.

Totino-Grace 4
Apple Valley 2

I really liked number 18 and 15 from Totino (those were the jersey numbers they had on not sure if that will be true for season) 2 big centers

AV senior goalie gave up 3, freshman gave up 1. Physical scrimmage, I know av played alot of their 5th and 6th defender and 4th line regularly. Not sure if Totino did or not or if they took it as more of a game like atmosphere playing time wise. Kinda sloppy though by both teams could kinda tell they are just getting the feel for playing together for a few guys.

They were most likely Nick Nagel and Dan DeLisle They both played in the Elite League

Did you get the name of that goalie. I think it might have been Ben Walsh a STA transfer?

Richfield

Blake 3 vs Richfield 1
Mound 0 vs Richfield 3
Delano 1 vs Richfield 3

Can Richfield compete in 2A this year?
Who do they have that's any good?
Blake looks pretty good, a return to state is most certainly in the cards for them!

No but I heard that HM had much the better of the play and shots.

The goals were something like 6-4.

Richfield can and will compete... They have a question mark at goalie with no goalie having any varsity experience, but up front they have Cole Gunner, probably the most under-rated or least-know goal scorer out there. Brock Hill should get some points. On D they will have Adam Seaman back by the first of the year, I hope along with Dusty Peterson. They also have a foreign exchange student who should be ok. I would guess if Richfield can stay close in the first two periods they will be able to win some games.

Anyone see the Hastings, Red Wing, Mayo scrimmages today?
I am interested to see how the Spartans looked....heard they nipped Apple Valley, crushed Austin and had a tight one with Albert Lea last week.

The only thing I know for sure is that Red Wing handled Hastings.

I wasn't there, but a friend that was told me that RW played bad against Mayo, but said they didnt remember the score.
