And we are underway with PHM beating Hibbing 2-1 last night. This is the thread to talk about all the section 7AA teams and their upcoming games. I will be back later with a weekend preview for GRG and CEC.

Must have been a tough loss for P-H-M after being up 3-0 into the 2nd period.

It was a tough loss, but the PHM girls rebounded nicely, outshooting Hibbing 43 - 10. and winning 2-1(Collier played great!)

CEC was up 2-0 on Stillwater and then lost in OT 3-2. Pretty good game.

That will be coming tomorrow, I believe.

GRG went 2-0-1 this week.
Cloquet was 1-1.

Big game for both teams to say the very least.

I have not seen GRG yet, but have seen Cloquet play twice. Based on the scores each team has put up and who they've played, I have to believe it close, probably a one goal game.

CEC

Post by wild77 »

Cloquet has played a very tough schedule to date. Every game, except the first one against Benilde, have been close, but they have either not closed the deal (Stillwater) or do not play 3 periods (Hopkins). They seem to have 2 pretty even lines with a third line that's also capable. They have a very capable defensive corp and two young, but very good goalies. It seems that they are making too many mistakes right now to win that big game. The nice thing is they are making mistakes against very good competition and they do enough things right to stay in the games. Should be a tight game and will probably come down to special teams.

It appears both team have tough schedules, not just CEC. Which one is more difficult will play out through the year.

Grand Rapids/Greenway Lightning vs. Cloquet/Esko/Carlton Lumberjacks tomorrow.

I will take GRG to win this hockey game. Both teams play impressively difficult schedules and GRG has come out better in the first couple weeks. The Lighning defensive corps of Clafton, Horgen, Dekich, Illikainen, Gaffney, and Kohorst has looked fantastic. The Lightning have the better, more experienced goalie in Jessica Havel. I know CEC hasn't forgetten the last two games between these teams, especially the 5-1 drubbing they took on their own ice last season. Erickson scored 4 in that game, and I would expect CEC to try with all their might to stop her. Even if she can be stopped, Gallop, Arola, Illikainen, and Guyer have all gotten goals and chances this year, and I think that will continue. All in all, Cloquet is a very tough place to win.

Grand Rapids/Greenway 3
Cloquet/Esko/Carlton 2

Great game, glad i had the chance to attend. From the drop of the puck CEC was on a mission to take Erickson out of the game. #7 Montana(sorry for not knowing her last name  ) for CEC was on the ice nearly everytime Erickson was out there. It was fun watching a chess match like that at a girls high school game. When Arola scored her second goal on the PP i noticed two CEC girls within 5 feet of Erickson, allowing a two on one for GRG.

Although it went to overtime it appeared GRG played better and had faster team speed overall. Arola played great, very impressive. Montana was also great for CEC.

That Montana is Montana Vichorek. Very good player. I think it is great for Molly that Emily is being watched so closely. Arola can put the puck away with the best of them and is getting all sorts of scoring chances this season.

kind of pick your poison. Erickson sounds like she lite up CEC last year so naturally she should have been the focus, but from looking at the PP goal boblee sounds like they may have "focused" on Erickson too much.

Great for GRG that they have the ability to score and have a balanced attack. When i watched a few of their games last year they didnt seem as balanced.

so what is up for the next games in 7 AA?

When does Duluth play CEC?

How do the teams down south look?
