boblee's Pick 'em Rules Question

Post by EREmpireStrikesBack »

Didn't want to clutter up your thread, so I started this instead.

What happens if there is a tie?

Good question.

A tie= 1/2 point
A win= 1 point
A loss= 0 points

Why wouldn't a tie just be a 0? There is no difference if we are scored 0 or .5 considering we're picking a team from that game. So whats the difference if we all gain .5 a point or 0 points. Just think it would make it easier for ya.

Are tie predictions allowed? Or do we need to choose a winner?

Who cares.

It's not like this is for the stanley cup or something.

Boblee set up the game.

He will do all the work.

Let em make the rules.

Just have fun competing!!!!!!

Just my opinion here, but I think if you pick a tie and it hits, you get the same points as if you called the winner.

You could pick all ties and get 5 points. Strategy would come into play at the end of the season. I'm going to agree with big_thurst and ties = 0 points. Being wrong = 0 points, picking a tie or picking a winner.

If you pick a tie, the teams would have to tie in order for you to get the point. If either team wins, you'd get no points for it, which is why it's probably not too good an idea to pick a tie (obviously). Unless, of course, Bob's rules are different from how I'd interpret it. It's his contest, so how I see it is just, well, how I see it :)

Of course if you pick a tie you don't get any points if either team wins, so I guess it should be the same if you pick a winner and they tie. So, one point for a correct guess, zero points for anything else.

For now, just the boys. The girls board is still probably a year out.

I don’t care if you give more or less.

Thank you for stepping up and putting in the time!

OK is there going to be a HS pick em standings thread?

And...... should we have another thread for the fun stuff? that we are not putting in the picks and scores threads?? Just an idea.

I mean this things gonna go a couple months! and it might be nice to have a common place to talk about the wins , losses, upsets. etc. and of course a little banter on others picks.

what a ya think?

I do plan on posting a weekly standings, right before week 3, then continuing through the season. For people reading this, if you don't post your scores, I don't count them. I can enter them in my file easily, but I don't have time to look through 100 picks per week. CNT, feel free to start that other thread. I think that is a great idea.
