I believe mom was trying to use a literary device known as sarcasm. Crookstons official name is Crookston/Fisher/Red Lake Falls so that drops them down to 1 actual transfer whose family moved to the area from Arizona because dad works for the Air Force. There was no job that magically opened up in Crookston. And they didn't send there daughter to town to stay with relatives or friends. I doubt she has seen ice before in her life, and has never had ice skates on. She'll be a J.V. player all year.

I have reviewed all the game programs including section and state tournaments. Nowhere, including on the MSHSL site, is this team known as Crookston/Fisher/Red Lake Falls as an "official" name. Therefore, Crookston is guilty of talking smack, again  They are being charged with their second game timeout. Continued misconduct on this post will open them up to penalty shots from the rest if this continues. Please play by the rules and quit making them up as you go along. Dumpandchase will also need to sit for two minutes for delay of game for acting as a Captain without being designated before the game.

Could someone clarify what these "magic jobs" are. The last real good magic job was held by Houdini. I do believe Kriss Angel has replaced him in the "magic job" category. He lives in Las Vegas, not Crookston or even anywhere in MN for that matter. If I don't get solid facts on these "magic jobs" I might be inclined to call dumpandchase, "takinadump"

Wrong.

http://mshsl.org/mshsl/schoolactpage.as ... school=114

It wouldn't be the first season with this coop either.

I certainly don't think Crookston had parents, players, or coaches down in Arizona scouting talent either for that matter.

Compare Warroad's history of "move-ins" with Crookston's, if that kind of comparison is even possible. I'm afraid to inform you that this one just happens to be legit.

Hey winnings not for everyone. It seems that maybe your name should be winning at all costs is not for everyone.

I'm thinking that you need to have a game disqualification for being dishonest. You are just making this up as you go along. Besides the MSHSL page of Crookston where it says on the top that this is a cooperative with Fisher and Red Lake Falls. You could also look at the 2007 Girls Hockey Section 8A playoffs book where on 2 of the 10 pages total it references Crookston/Fisher/Red Lake Falls-let me draw you a map here: Inside front cover and on page 2. And the state tournament program where it has an asterisk next to Crookston on page 17 which tells you to turn to page 48 where it says Crookston includes Fisher and Red Lake Falls.

Maybe if you cite your sources we can start believing things that you say.

After further review, the decision has been overturned. Crookston will get their timeout back, I will sit in timeout for my misstatements. Let that be a lesson that when you get your credit card offers to read the fine print. It's like the asterik next to Barry Bonds homerun record.

I need you to clarify this one for me. A crookston family moves to Roseau where their daughter will be playing hockey. Her dad gets one of those so-called "magic jobs" at Marvins in Warroad. Does this make the recruiter Roseau or Warroad? According to most people, the only reason you would work in Warroad, is if you were recruited. Or did they move out before they had to deal with the HS politics? Sorry, messed up on the quote feature.

You are right on as always Teddy. Good luck to you and the Lady Pirates and keep up your winning ways.

I think that MSHSL should consider changing Warroad to Warroad/Williams/Opportunity. For all of you who want to know where opportunity is, it's where girls that need a better place to play hockey end up. \:D/ Then we could end all discussion.

EGF should be 3-0 right now. TRF is not very good, Brainerd is worse, and I have a hard time believing Wadena is much, if any, better. I haven't seen Crookston but I have seen Warroad, EGF, and Roseau. EGF will not be a #2 seed. I will say #4 is more like it.

I certainly am proud to see the BIG 3 in the section have had an opportunity to build up some quick points for their players. On paper, they should be able to beat darn near everyone in the state. I will be excited to see games in the 8 or 9 goal range when they start beating up on each other! Must make Momma proud.

2007 Section 8 champs

Post by dmbenough2Bagoalie »

I think section 8 may be one of the toughest in the state and seems to produce severall good teams such as Roseau, Warroad, Crookston, TRF, and East Grand Forks. Putting all talk of recruiting and summer time cheating behind i feel that what it will boil down to is the dedication and hard work of the teams. Now everyone has seemed to lean towards warroad and crookston even some towards roseau. my personal opinion roseau is very skilled and fast but may lack some experience. warroad is extreemly talented and has experience. and crookston seems talented and well rounded. so this once again puts us at who is the most dedicated. I hope for crookston myself but i think it will be an interesting section tournament and these teams better not overlook EGF and TRF that could come up to haunt them.

Not to Disagree with you Dmbenough2Bagoalie, but I don't think you really know enough about the teams in Section 8A to say They are unexperienced enough. The teams in 8A are all hard workers and dedicated, although the top 3 put the pieces together best. Warroad, Roseau and Crookston are all very skilled, and each team has it's strong points. Although they are all experienced. Warroad has lost a few key players, but have strong goal tending and skilled players. Roseau is very fast, full of smart players and work as a TEAM together. Crookston is well rounded but look not as polished as last year compared to Warroad and Roseau this year. I don't think it is experience, but who is willing to skate when their legs are about to fall off, never quit when they are down, and play together as a TEAM.

I would say Roseau is very good this year. EGF is a year maybe 2 from being right up there. TRF sorry no numbers they need to do something to get there program going. Crookston 2007-2008 would beat last years Crookston 9 times out of 10. With Lexy W. back Crookston this year would never lose to last years team. Warroad I can't say how they stack up but will need new players to step up for them to beat Crox or Roseau.

who is willing to skate til there legs fall off

Post by dmbenough2Bagoalie »

Hockey 112,

I couldn't agree with you more on the point you made about the winner will be the one who is willing to skate til there legs fall off. That in fact is the point i tried to make in my post and i do apologize for any misunderstanding.
As for the so called unexperienced i mearly said that some of these teams may lack some experience as a team. By this I ment to say that they have some young players whom might be alittle less likely to make the proper decision in real time under the preasure of a high stakes game such as the section championship game. I hope this cleared up my previous post if not reply back let me know. I'm always up for talking hockey.

scincerly,

For those that haven't been polled, you might not want to follow the lead of so many of those before you. Looks like Crookston was way overrated. Could be the sign of a sinking ship. I'll bet they can't wait for Roseau!!

I couldn't agree with GOCARDS1 more. After watching martin play i thought maybe crookston was without hope for the rest of the season but jennifer myer seemed to step up nicely. I also heard though that Martin posted a 20 save shutout against North Metro and just had a rough game against warroad. Can anyone tell me if that was for real or if its just talk.

I liked the NEW look the Pirates came out with on Friday. Lien stepped up nicely on the first line. Solheim looked very good back on defense. I believe Martins record during the last 2 years was overshadowed by one rough game. Are the Pirates over rated? I hope everyone else keeps thinking that.

WOW

Post by dmbenough2Bagoalie »

WOW, I would like to applaud WARROAD and ROSEAU on one heck of a weekend against HM and EP. Not that i would say i am to terribly suprised about the turn out this weekend. Now i'm looking forward to see if crookston can compete with roseau on friday. I wonder if we will see the team that played warroad or a revived crookston.
I wonder If martin will be back in for a chance to redeem herself or if they will go with meyer. Either way goaltending will be key for the pirates. Well good luck to both teams and looking forward to seeing a new team from the pirates.
