So this years team should actually be better than last year since it is returning almost all their defenseman, plus most of their scoring.
Returning all their Defense but 1, I will agree with that and the one defensive kid who graduated was not all that good. But the seniors leaving had 74 goals out of the 153 that Orono scored last year.

Badger07
I highly doubt McMahon would have started over Peterson last year or even Wilson this year
I don't know Badger, I think the only reason Peterson was starting was because he was all they had. I think that Orono would have been very happy if McMahon would have stayed. I watched him play a few games and he looked better than Peterson. I think he would have been the starter for three years. Who knows, maybe Orono would have beat STA if McMahon was in net.

I don't know the behind the scenes interplay. However, from an outsiders perspective it appears he did his job well.

i highly doubt that #1D#2, i recall a dump on an open net that forced an icing to give STA a chance to tie it up

Oh I remember that. But a one handed backhand shot!!!! that just can't go in. I also remember watching even a worse play in OT though, I can't remember who it was, but someone on Orono made a CIP, aka cross ice pass, from his own goal line and it got picked off and STA scored to win the game.

Red Wing 5

Orono 2

Red Wing had 5 goals on 19 shots. Orono finally played a little competition and proved to have no depth, lack defense, and lack goaltending.

Anyone attend the game?

I decided to go to the game to see how Orono would do against some better competition. They looked pretty sloppy throwing the puck around and Orono took some stupid penalties which RW capitalized on. Orono got some decent scoring chances from there 1st & 2nd line but their D pinched alot and RW got a ton of 2 on 1s. Early in the season though.

You didn't go to the game? Strong statements for not attending

Peterson and #1#2....i know what play you're talking about! Even though #16 that year was the best kid on that team, he did make a dumb play...but the other 1,532 good plays he made throughout the season made up for it...i think it's safe to say that peterson was the reason that the 2006 and 2007 teams never saw the X after the first round both years..he's a spastic psycho that really never should have played a varsity game his whole high school career...i never understood why coach Ryan last year played peterson over the 5'2" standout Johnny Gabos

Are you sure you didn't mean to say that Peterson was a BIG reason they even made it to the X? Don't be bitter Johnny G.

I also happened to attend the Orono-Redwing game, and it was a combination of bad play in all aspects of the orono's team play to loose, First off.. the forwards had a couple of great plays/oppurtunities that they didnt even hit the net with that they would normally score on. The defense let up close to 5 2-0's and a few 3-1's etc, and a couple one man breakaways that made Red Wings 19 shots not a very strong statistic, and also Orono's goalie Wilson let Red Wing capitalize on most of Orono's mistakes. He played pretty bad in the 1st and 2nd period, and pretty good in the third. Rough start for the Orono boys... hope to see it shape up.

Isnt that why he contributed in the defeats of Holy Family with combined scores of like 17-2 or something like that last year?

Very Rough outting for orono last night thats for sure. There were glimpses of what this orono team can do throughout the night, but they just have to put it all together. They cannot let teams walk right around their D like they did last night and shoot, and orono's forwards cannot miiss that many chances they did last night. Even though the D gave up 5 with all the chances Orono had to score the game could of been way closer.
