I'll guarantee I won't work for a Jr. Golder someday either. I'm curious you say you played both HS and Jr. Gold; did you play varsity and why was the reason you went from HS to Jr. Gold..no challenge at the HS level? :P
I don't know if you were referring to what I said or newsguy, but I'm assuming this question is directed at me considering newsguy never said he played both and I did. So I'll answer it, whether it was for me or not.

I played bubble (V/JV) my sophomore year in HS. Played V more than JV. During a fall camp in my junior year, I broke my shoulder and was out for about 5 months... 2 of them during the season. When I returned I frequently dressed V games but didn't play much and was stuck on JV. Reason's I still don't know why, considering the team my sophomore year was better. And the following season (my senior year) I was cut, along with probably 10-12 other seniors whom were all previous JV players, and a few other V players. Leaving the HS team with 2 seniors. One of which was a goalie. And the coach did this for unexplained reasons. And filled the roster with 9th and 10th graders, as well as an 8th grader. That would be why I played JG and not HS.

Long story short, the HS team won maybe 4 games while we (Jr gold team) only lost 3 games all season. 1 regular season game, the other 2 were tourney games. And eventually took 3rd at state.

And after playing at the different levels... I 100% guarantee we could have beat 90% of MN HS JV teams, and a hand full of V teams... one being the team we all got cut from. Pretty much all the games at the JG level (not all) were more competitive than JV and the top teams put up better games than some V games I played in. (this is just JG B by the way, and its even BETTER at the A level)
But did that mean we weren't good enough to play V. Not one bit, because at one point some of us players on JG were and did play V, then the coach had different plans. And funny thing about that... the coach that chose to make that move and cut us was actually let go the following season. And this is the type of stuff that happens to lots of good players across the state. Hence the reason why JG is now more competitive than ever.

Undercover Hockey Lover is a MORON. Enough said. The league used to be a hack league back when there was midgets and Junior Gold. Since then, the two leagues have combined and the level of hockey is great. Like Moosejaw said (or someone else) there is a big difference between the best and the worst players on a JR gold team. I have NO DOUBT in my mind that the best Junior Gold A Teams (Wessys, Wayzata, Ep, White Bear, Edina) could have have easily walked over the the less/medium talented Varsity teams. Sure, they couldn't take down Edina varsity or Roseau. No way. It would be fun to watch though. Edina had 9 seniors, who all played varsity the previous year, play for Junior Gold last year. They had to move to make room for Buddish and the crew. I don't know how more retarted you can be to think that Varsity is such a big step above the best JG teams.

Sorry hockey moron lover guy. It's about 10-1 here. You're wrong. We're right.

No probably, Lucia. When I find it, I'll check MetroLeague first, I'll send it to you! Hope you have fun! It's really good hockey.

Your creative writing is impressive, your math stinks.

If you missed that much of your JR year I'm guessing you fell behind and never caught up.

10 or 12 guys cut. :^o

Try that again. You and 3 other guys wer cut. The rest were afraid to even tryout.

If getting hired as a Division III college hockey assistant coach is what being "let go"means..... I'll bet there are a few more HS coaches that would like to be let go.

Your coach/association took an "A" level JR Gold team and played at the "B" level just like last year and you guys had some success. Hooray.

You strike me as the kind of guy that will be sitting at the bar 15 years from now talking about how your HS coach ruined your life....

Time to move on with your life wouldn't you say?? :-({|=

I read that as many times as my eyes could handle and I saw nothing to indicate he was lying. I didn't understand your last post either. Please explain further as I saw nothing wrong.

So obviously you two go to or went to the same school, because I see two sides of possibly the same story. As far as why JR Gold doesn't get attention is probably for a couple reasons. First off, it used to be and some times still is referred to as a hack league. Secondly, when a school backs a high school team there is more publicity given it is seen as a social gathering for Alumni, Parents, and most of all current students thus resulting in more attention. Maybe in a decade or so when JR Gold's reputation as a competitive league builds up there maybe more attention to it, but for now High School with be more popular.
As far as JR Gold and varsity programs, yes I believe that some JR Gold teams could beat a handful of Varsity teams as well as a lot of JV programs. I hold this belief because in order to have a JR Gold team you need a large association and thus resulting in more competition among players and more talent compared to small towns eg, North Branch, Rogers, Dodge County etc..

UHL-- I'll explain where you are wrong the next time you deliver. By the way, you mixed up the order last time. We get the Supreme Delux not the pepperoni and extra cheese. And try and get here before it gets cold.

I would guess you don't hear about JG on these forums as much because the JG parents are more into letting the kids play the game for themselves rather than trying to pump up their offspring or their team so the kid can make it to the next level.
