Buffalo

Post by igotworms023 »

I dont get why you are whining about Buffalo being in the conference. Hockey is the only sport that they are good at, yet they still didnt win the conference last year. Their other sports like baseball, football, wrestling and so on are what maybe .500? Serioulsy they didnt win the conference last year and got swept by Cambridge so obviously the conference isnt to bad for them.

yea i dont really follow basketball its during hockey season so honostly who cares. But I believe that its a decent basketball conference. Cambridge and Monticello are tough most of the times. If anyone can complain look at Cambridge. They are always at the top of the conference in every sport they have been playin. They will win the football conferece and baseball title this year and basketball, wrestling and hockey will be top 2 or 3

What did I miss? I don't see anyone other than "puckeyone" asking why Buffalo is in the Mississippi 8. No whining that I can see. Their youth hockey program is trying to get out of D5 but that's a completely different issue.

Just curious....has Cambridge-Isanti won a state title in anything....in the past couple of decades?

Congrats to the Buffalo Bison 2006-2007 class AAAA state basketball champs!

all im sayin is who cares. Buffalo is good at hockey and apparently basketball so what. There are more sports then just hockey where the school cant even compete in the conference. They fit in just fine.

Yes...you're saying and not reading! I don't see anyone other than "puckeyone" (who is not a Buffalo poster) suggesting that Buffalo feels they are too good for the M8 so please drop it. FWIW...I see C-I was dead last in boys basketball and girls volleyball, second to last in softball so please lay off Buffalo....they compete just fine!

ok take a look at the sports people care about

hockey-cambridge swept buffalo and ended up 3rd in the conference should place in top 3 this year

football- big win for buffalo over c-i last year cambridge still takes 2nd in conference will win it this year

wrestling- dont follow it to close but i believe cambridge was #2 in the conference behind stma again should be in top 2 again this year

basketball- congrats buffalo cambridge is rebuilding from a usually strong team they will have another tough year good luck to buffalo again this year

baseball- again dont follow it to much but i belive cambridge and buffalo were top 3 in conference cambridge will win it this year

and if we wanna get into girls sports look at this
conference champs
girls hockey 05-06 & 06-07 they will win it again this year
girls soccer 04, 05, and 06
gymnastics last three years and they went to state and took fourth
girls swimming 05 and 06 soon to add 07

couple of things:

CI did not sweep Buffalo...they were fortunate in winning at buffalo and the teams tied at CI...Second, no one ever said Buffalo didn't belong in the conference...Third, based on idiotic posts there is only one guarantee in life...Cambridge will never win anthing in academics...

Not sure on that! I'm pretty sure Rogers was #1 in the conference for boys academic for the 2006-2007 season.

Hows it monticello looking this year? I noticed they had a about 7 juniors on JV this year. Is this a sign that the program is developing and making varisty is becoming more of a competetion then a given? Any insight on this years team?

Also about buffalo being in this conference.....I doesnt make sense to me either because I had heard they were trying to play more skilled teams back in the early 2000's now they are in M8 an extermely weak confernece compared to there former "North Suburban"

I will see Monticello this Thursday when Rogers plays them at Moose Sherrit Arena.
1st M-8 conference game for both.
Both teams go in 1-2 with Monty beating Cooper 6-3, and losing 5-0 to Orono, and 4-2 to Bemidji.
Rogers winning against Waseca 11-2, and losing 4-1 to Armstrong, and 4-3 to Maple Grove.
Rogers is nicked up a bit with one D still out, and then losing a Fwd. to a concussion after the MG goalie punched him a couple times in the head with the blocker.
IMO the Rogers team heavy in Jr's will be able to fill these spots until the injuries have healed.

MAML Stars 2007-08

Monticello may surprise, after losing 9 seniors from last years team, and Torrell playing Junior A hockey in Iowa (instead of playing his senior year), you wouldn't expect much, but they have a good group moving up from JV that have played decent their first three games.

How surprising they will be will largely depend on their goalie, a sophomore, that may or may not be the weak link.

Shots on goal against Orono and against Bemidji were about even & they led Bemidji 2-1 in the second period before losing a key player for the rest of the game to an injury. Thursday night at home against Rogers will tell a lot. Monti should have defeated Rogers at home last year (ended in a 5-5 tie in a barnburner) & the Moose should be rockin' on Thursday! Hopefully the next snow event, predicted for Thursday will not cancel this one. Should be fun.

I was at the Monti vs Orono game and I was very suprised with the talent of Shay Klitzke who I believe is only a sophmore but noted as a senior on mshsl.org. Monti held with them for a good portion of the first period but after the first goal agaist they kinda fell apart. I assumed Orono was having a weak year, is that right?

Not positive, but I think Klitzke is a senior.

Klitzke is a senior, one of a few returning varsity players from last season's Stars squad & is one of the captains of this years team. Klitzke had an amazing goal against Cooper, in a 7-3 win, going around and thru three defenders and scoring. Orono is currently ranked 6th in the State in Class A, but I think they are ranked that high based on the laurels of past Orono teams (going to state a few times in recent years).

I don't see anyone other than "puckeyone" (who is not a Buffalo poster) suggesting that Buffalo feels they are too good for the M8 so please drop it.

Because this board demands full disclosure, I also believe it is a bad conference for Hockey. Basketball, football, wrestling, volleyball, etc. probably good. This is a hockey board, and frankly the competition, venues, level of play just aren't that good. Buffalo and Rogers will dominate the competition in the near future, and given their size they should. MAML and Cambridge will have good stretches, from time to time, but STMA, BBL and Princeton just don't have programs in place to feed the high school program. IMO, a good conference is solid top to bottom, and anyone can win on a given night. Anything over a six goal spread in a game does neither team any good, and there are still alot of those in the M8. 8)

so CNT tell me your thoughts on Monti? Cambridge came to Buffalo with an attitude...they always do but after a confusing 1st period the Bison throughly dominated. Was expecting more out of a few guys on Cambridge but they have a good coach and I am sure will right the ship...hopefully when they play Rogers..LOL.
