I keep typing the wrong thing. I meant, does anybody actually know the score? I have no clue, sorry.

Mayo 7
John Marshall 2

Mayo scored 3 straight power play goals in the second to break open a 2-2 game. Neither team played very well but it's early in the season. JM played a freshman in goal and he was plenty shaky, first start and all. Mayo is young and should improve greatly as the season wears on, JM is in for a long season.

HM - BSM

Post by stpaul »

Hill-Murray 3, Benilde-St M 1
Kohls & Widing scored for HM in the 1st
Appelhof (I think) for BSM on the power play in the 3rd - actually during a delayed penalty with the extra skater
Zepeda with an empty netter for HM
Phillippi was spectacular for HM
Ankeny also very good in nets for BSM. HM hit a couple of pipes.
Never heard a shot count - probably pretty even - maybe BSM had more -
- both teams put together great scoring chances and were stopped by solid goaltending.

BSM won a shortened JV game 1-0. The 3rd period was only 7 minutes.
The varsity game still started 45 min late.

Late edit - shots were 38-29 BSM

Goldy - You are right, the Rockets are in trouble...they only have a handful of players that even looked like varsity players. I thought the game could have been much worse if the Spartans finished better and played with any intensity in the first. JM's goals were due to weak defensive play by the Spartans to start the game and a horrible goal from the sideboards w/ Steinmetz on the goaline in the net. The shots were 24-11 that last two periods. Did you see the score and shot totals for the JV game? It won't get any easier for Lecy with that crew!

The line of Tom Alexander, Whitney and Fisher controlled play almost all night long.

You're right. The Star Tribune has it reversed. Never trust those guys. The Pioneer Press is always the paper of record.

How come big thurst has Er over Andover 3-1, and rayfinkel has ER over Andover 6-1?

Which was it?
