George you got me in baseball, you guys have a great team on the diamond, but apollo-tech hockey combined would be better. Your Crusaders I'd say are the third best hockey team in St. Cloud until proven wrong down the road.

Don't know why it has to be Cathedral doing to proving...

Apollo hasn't beaten Cathedral since before I played and Cathedral beat Tech last year.

But, I guess they'll just have to do some proving then.

They aren't technically my Crusaders. I don't own them. I enjoy watching their games. I like to see them win. But, the same can be said about Apollo. I enjoy watching their games. I also like to see them win.

Not a Tiger fan eh? The possible matchup of Cathedral-Tech in GCC semis will be their proving point.

I'm a fan in everything but hockey. I'm not the biggest Chad Hommerding fan.

Me either George. I still haven't heard anything about the old Apollo coach. Any sightings? Saw he isn't doing the Junior B thing anymore. Well read a while back anyway. Any info George, or all wise one? I haven't been to an Apollo game in since before last season, so I don't know much except the real old stuff.

I've seen him around. He's helping out a little bit with Brainerd's high school team and doing some work for a scouting agency.

Brainerd?

What are his ties with them? Seems weird I guess. Does he watch games around St. Cloud then?

Cathedral has beaten Tech in soccer the past few years. Interesting, Apollo has no problem playing against Cathedral in hockey and soccer, but Tech now avoids playing Cathedral in both sports. I know Tech defeated Cathedral in basketball last year, but heck, this is a hockey forum and who gives a rip about that sissy sport.

Who is good from those two teams? Or would he be scouting for Brainerd?

Scsu, Tech would be my top team in St. Cloud, not becaus I'm biased, and I believe they'll end up winning the GCC. Mark my words. Beating Apollo in the finals.

Yuck. That comment was gross.

EVERY sport?!

Cathedral has the best baseball team in the area as made evident by their state championship and run to the state tourney in legion baseball this summer.

Mixing Cathedral's position players with pitching from Logan Birr and WOW!

But, this is not about baseball...

Cathedral has the best hockey team in the city of St. Cloud. Mixing Cathedral's defense and first line with Apollo's first line and goalie would be a MUCH better team than Apollo's first line with Tech's Maetche and Miller.

In the future? Maybe in hockey. Still, not in every sport.

Who is Logan Birr?

In my OPINION...Tech doesn't have the offense nor goaltending of Apollo. They also don't have the defense of Cathedral.

This'll all be settled in the next couple weeks with Apollo and Cathedral facing off next Tuesday and the upcoming GCC.

Side note on the GCC. How lame is it that they changed the brackets this year? The 8pm game featuring Apollo/Tech vs. Cathedral was always the best. Now, it seems like Cathedral doesn't have any reason to play in this tourney if they can't even play the cross-town teams.

SCSU I know you know who both people are but for the sake of everyone who doesn't take this board as a big joke I will fill them in.

Logan Birr is a Senior pitcher for St. Cloud Apollo who should be pitching D-1 next year. Anyone who has seen him pitch knows he's legit. With a little fine tuning he could turn into a very good pitcher at the college level.

Zack Marchand is number 26 on Apollo's hockey team. He is a third line forward.

So Goldy when did Saint Cloud State go D-1 in baseball?

They haven't. Sorry, I completely forgot that he committed there.

OK, I smell Hoemerding's hands in this... With this schedule he won't have to face SCC in the finals regardless. He is such a ********.

Tech could have the best players in the area (which they don't) and still choke at the end. Chad Hoemerding is, by far, the worst high school coach that the area has, or has ever had. (Wait.. that's not true, a few years ago Cathedral had Voss... he made CH look good, but he was at least able to take a group of good players to the state tourny... when did Tech last go to the State Tournament???)
