Re: Woodbury Varsity
Didn't they go to state last year? I guess it depends on who they have coming back and who they have coming up because i have no idea.flatontheice wrote:How is Woodbury going to be this year?

Thanks pioneers. This is not good to hear but I hope he is doing well. Will this (as well as his shoulder) affect anything this year as he is there leader??pioneers wrote:If he is number 8 for Southeast, he did take a big hit on Saturday. He was knocked out and got cut. I know the ambulace was called, but I didn't see if they took him away or not. Seeing how groggy he was when they helped him off of the ice, my guess is they took him to the hospital.

Woodbury will challenge for the SEC title and along with CDH would be the preseason favorites. Roseville and WBL will be strong despite their losses. Stillwater could surprise everyone.
Lucas Zweig will be missed. Always thought he stood out on the blueline. Anybody know where he is playing hockey this year? NAHL?

Saw 1st two periods of the game with Como Park.
Woodbury has 2 good lines. I thought the Erickson, Ogren, Nelson line was very good. Dane Erickson impressed and missed several scoring chances in the first two periods. Eddy's line was solid as well.
Their D was solid and very mobile and I liked the play of Walker Hyland who was listed as a sophomore but sure didn't play like one.

His name is Brandon Wiggen. He is struggling a little bit, but he is coming back to hockey after being out for a while due to seizures. So he is not at his peak yet, but will soon be.ImissMYhockey wrote:Their goalie is wiger right? Of what I've seen of him I think he could be the one factor that holds them back.

The Royals had several great scoring chances and missed the net in the 1st. Most of the game was in the Como end.hockeyfan002 wrote:i heard their game was 4-2 late in the 3rd against como park. were the shots lopsided and the royals didnt take full advantage or what? if someone could fill me in that'd be great. thanks

Woodbury will win the Suburban East. And fight with Rosemount for the Section Champs.
yeah they'll challenge for the section again, especially with cdh having a down year. rosemount had to score with 12 seconds to play to break a 5-5 tie and beat woodbury int he second game of the year, and thats without woodbury's second best player (next to david eddy) in ben goff on the ice.
