I have no clue, I think its a really dumb idea. It's right before a Wild game though but I still think being packed in at Aldrich is much more fun.

Anyways, I think 5 or 6 is about right.

Only a Hill-Murray fan..

They can win by double digits as many times as they want but there's only one state championship game. Them boasting their "power" against teams such as Henry Sibley isn't going to put a ring on anybody's finger. IMO it only defaces the reputation of a program when you constantly run up the score against a much weaker opponent in high school hockey.

Who said anything about playing down to the competition? How is it necessary to score 15 goals on a team. All they're doing is padding the stats. Beating a team 8 or 9 to nothing is saying plenty if you want to make a statement. It's high school hockey, nobody is getting paid here and purposely running up the score is unnecessary. Why HM even plays the weak teams they do I have no idea. If they're so great - play great teams.

Professor,

Don't blame the kids because they don't control the schedule. I am going to take a wild guess that the Hill kids didn't exactly enjoy the game either.

Park has a pretty young team and a few of the kids looked really good. The one that sticks in my mind was #20, a sophomore named Brandon Graf.

You try playing Tartan twice a year. That takes more out of Hill teams than playing 100 Edina's.

That said, Hill can't help who they play in their conference. They are in a good conference for the school relative to every other sport they play. Yes they dominate it in hockey, but that's not true in every sport. They just don't have the numbers to compete against the Stillwater's, Blaine's, Anoka's, etc in every sport.

I see HM's first line scored with about a minute left in the Park game when it was 10-1

thats brutal

2 against Simley and 1 more v. Sibley, thats about it. Who you guys thinkin they are gonna put up 10 against? Don't know much about North St. Paul, Richfield, or Tartan but they are usually what i'd call average teams, and probably wont give up 10

This post sounds very familiar to me and the rest of the AHA community.....I wish AHA played in the Classic Lake, but in all the other sports they would have a harder time. I think it would be beneficial for them to play in this conference, IMO.

People were talking a lot about this a few years ago when Centennial's state championship team was crushing their weaker opponents by 10-15 goals. I never thought they were running up the score, they were just playing hockey. Aus didn't like the idea of beating teams like that, but what could he do? I know Lechner well enough to know that he would never run up the score to humiliate a team. The guy embodies sportsmanship, but he's not about to tell his team to avoid scoring goals.

A post like this, however, glorifying Hill's dominance against weaker teams is kind of ridiculous. They're a good team, no doubt, but a 14 goal victory against Sibley says nothing about how their season will pan out.

Only underclassmen and AP would brag about it...

Just wait until Tartan. Comeuppance is in the air. At least I think thats what that smell is...

As products of a public school education it's hard to pass up a chance to tweak the privateers any chance we get :D

I think what you are trying to say is, Why aren't they moved to a stronger conference?
The reason is that at Hill Murray they actually play other sports with relatively limited success. The current conference is a perfect fit for the school for any sport other than hockey in boys and girls activities.
Can you really measure their success by how badly they beat some of the conference opponents? NO.
Not fair to Hill Murray and not fair to those other schools. At least in hockey. Let's wait and see how they do against the big schools when it matters.
They are no doubt a strong team but let that play out on the ice against good opponents.

The conference argument can't be made at any point for STA, HM or CDH... as far as I'm concerned they should all still be in the St. Paul City, but were all thrown out for "competitive balance". Garbage.

They usually ran through us pretty good, but who cares? The City Conference has cannibalized itself by throwing out any decent teams, and now they're down to two in hockey. If those 3 schools were still in for other sports, it would still be a relatively competitive conference overall. In fact, in sports like basketball, track, and other ones nobody cares about (or the private schools don't recruit for), the publics would probably do very well.

CDH tends to run over teams in baseball and football every few years, but you can't put them in any conference to stop that.

As much as I don't care care for HM and the rest, at least with those 3, you can't really hold up their conference as an issue - it's truly not on them.

Good for you, Govs.

Johnson has had some great teams with some success against Hill, and there is NO REASON that they cannot continue with strong programs in the future.

The same goes for Park!

The 1991 Pioneers scored a State record 7 second period goals in the Tourney against Grand Rapids (some long overdue postseason payback). Should they have stopped playing hard then, too?

If I were a Pioneer Forward, I would ignore the scoreboard and give my all during every shift!

Trying to beat you with a less-than-great effort should be an insult... that it isn't an insult with some of you might be a clue to your frustrations with your loss columns.

P. S. What is the State record for second period goals during the regular season?
