Ok, the season is well under way, the NLI period has passed, and yet I have a feeling that there are a number of players from the State of Hockey that have made commitments that have yet to be formally announced by the schools, or informally on this or at USCHO.

So, what is the good word? And let's not have anyone pull an Ontario board move and say that announcing where one is heading the next year is unseemly, or bragging, or anything else but informative.

I'm hearing Monique Weber to Connecticut. Can anyone confirm?

Well if that's true, congrats to Connecticut - she is excellent.

There was an article in Elk Rivers local paper sometime around Thanksgiving, with a picture showing her signing her NLI. This is a tremendous opportunity for Monique. I am confident that she will be a great addition to the UCONN program! Congrats to Mo and her family! :D

In case you know, is the commitment to UMD true? I followed the link you posted, but it lead me to "article expired" notice.

Yes its true and I know that for a fact. Why is it your ?ing it. Prep sports had a small artical in the paper a couple weeks back under College signings and Commitments. Strange how some players get bragged about all the time and others never get mentioned. It was also in the forest lake times more then once. But my source is not the paper articles Brookyone.

Because we are trying to confirm that she is indeed a recruit, so she can be added to the D1 Commitments list on USCHO. Her name came up on the Wisco board "Beyond The Dashers" blog list, however in the past there have been players listed as recruits on that site that did not turn out to be recruits.

This problem tends to happen because the Beyond the Dasher list is culled from blind submissions that are made into a database, as opposed to how we see commitments "announced" here or at USCHO. Obviously what we do here or at USCHO isn't flawless, but because the people who make the posts regarding commitments tend to be known, reliable, posters and usually have a first hand source of their information confirmation isn't always needed.

Who do you consider to be a first hand source, if you do not mind me asking

First hand source...the player, a parent, many of whom have been sources of such info in the past...not that that's necessary. A link to an article published is fine for me. Or even the word of someone I know to be informed. I'm not concerned with your source...don't care, didn't ask. Was the question antagonistic in some way? Was nothing more than an honest inquiry since what appeared to be a link to just such a published article no longer worked.

I don't understand the reference to some players getting bragged about while others are not mentioned, or how that charge has any relevance to my earlier question.

Jill Vandegrift-Minnesota T'Breds (St. Paul) to RPI.
It looks like BSU is focusing hard on Northern Minnesota. The whole 'backyard' thing.

Emily Erickson-Bemidji State
This is huge for the Bemidji State program, i think she certainly will be a Ms. Hockey candidate (from the games i have seen her play). Ms. Cody and Ms. Erickson would make a nice line. HUGE for BSU!
