Southern teams in section 7AA

Post by jahcord17 »

Well as we all now this season Elk River, Anoka and Andover are in the section 7AA, but here is my issue. How can you have southern teams in a northern confrence?? I understand that there are sometimes more talent with southern teams but look at the numbers difference!! Northern teams have just enough kids to make a team and now you want to try taking away the opportunity for these kids to come down to the state tourny. All these people are all about numbers that come to the excel with the team but these small schools come down with the whole town!!Section 7AA has always been northern teams and thats they way it should be!! Not to mention how many times is Elk River going to change sections trying to get into the tourny. I think that these teams should have to play the section 7 schedule and travel to Int. Falls and Warroad if they want to be in there for the playoffs.

Are you joking man? 7AA is a powerhouse they have always had great teams. Anoka, ER, and Andover won't take away from them. DE GR Clouquet? These teams are all great, I wouldn't worry too much about southern teams beating them all though it will make the section tougher. But I don't think the northern teams are worrying too much about missing out on state.

The decision to switch sections all the time isn't Elk River's - it's the MSHSL.

Yeah the north has always been a power house, i played at both Anoka and Greenway. but i have always liked the northern hockey better. I graduated in 03 and when we played Grand Rapdis we would sell out which was about 2000 people.

Yeah i know its not up to elk river but all it seems like they are trying to do is have more southern teams down at state.
