Well ya....you didn't think the girls would get some cupcake like Fairmont did you? :P Just kidding. I didn't think the pairings were that bad. I imagine the organizers wanted to get all those 1A teams away from each other first and foremost, after that it doesn't matter who plays who. It's basically just for fun anyway.. If I had to guess, I would guess that Huron is probably a middle of the pack Big 9 team at best. How good can they be, they're from South Dakota! :P :P Now if this was a rodeo competition I'd be worried  Just kidding around...

Just for fun, let us see who is better at predicting games, RSI, A.K.A. "AL's finest" , or the all knowing Falcons89.

First I must do my homework.

Is Vy going to play? and if yes, at what percent of health? (this could impact Northfield)

Is Austin at full strength? I have heard some rumors up here. Grade issues or something like that? Fill me in Jet. You are the only one who can tell the truth south of Faribault.

It sounds like Vy will be near full health by then. She hasn't been practicing much on it, and hasn't played a lot in the last three games and most likely won't get too much time against Red Wing on Saturday in hopes that she'll be near 100% for Austin. The team really needs her back especially since losing Jirik.

You know I never discuss our roster or who is going to be on it. I leave that to twinnesota. He is much more accurate. :D

Thanks for the info. Are you guys looking past Bloomington? The Austin/Northfield game really loses its meaning without the full rosters.

I believe you just answered my question. My source is pretty reliable. She is not from AL. The big question is when will those players be back?

Therefore my picks:

Round 1
Austin over Fairmont 9-1
NFLD over Jefferson 4-3
West over Novas 5-4
AL over Huron(is huron close to new ulm?) 8-0

Round 2
NFLD over Austin(short roster) 6-2
West over AL 5-2

Consolation
Novas over Bloomington 5-1

3rd Place
AL over Austin 7-1

Champion
West over NFLD 6-3

We don't know too much about Jefferson and what their team is like, which makes it hard to look past them. I know everyone would love that second chance at Austin though.

OK, let us look past Jefferson. You meet Austin and beat them. They do not have 2 of their best players. I hear they are out for 3 games. Does not the win lose its meaning? You beat a watered down team that will be at full strength in sections.

I am glad that we will have a honest chance to destroy this team before sections. And they will have all of their players, so it has meaning. The win can not be taken away from us then.

Austin Tournament

Minneapolis Novas will have no problem beating Mankato West- unless the QFR rankings are totally hosed up- which is possible. Mankato West is ranked much lower then Richfield. Richfield wasn't even in the game against the Novas until a 5-3 penalty in the last couple of minutes- they somehow eeke out a tie. The Novas dominated the whole game.

Anything is possible but I don't see a team that dominated Richfield and tied Breck will lose to a much lower ranked team.

Kind of hard to look past Bloomington. Northfield will have more than they can handle. They may be 1-9-1 but look at their schedule. The Lake is no cupcake. The teams they played outside of the lake are very good teams, with maybe the exception of PL. They have the talent but lack on goaltending. My prediction would be a 4-2 Bloomington win over Northfield. There is a huge difference between the cupcake 1A teams and the ones in the Lake. I bet even the other bloomington team could handle the 1A teams. Minneapolis can be a pest also. They have a fantastic skater in McMullen who will be tough to handle. I pick bloomington to win the whole thing.

Thoughts?

A win is a win. The girls that are out let their team down (assuming its for a reason that's in their control, such as grades and not an injury) and now they and their team have to deal with the consequences.

As for Jefferson, I would agree that they have a tougher schedule. The only teams that both Jefferson and Northfield have played are New Prague and Prior Lake. Nfld lost to NP 1-2 and Jefferson lost to NP 0-7 and Nfld beat Prior Lake 4-2 while Jefferson tied them 4-4. However this is not the most accurate way to compare the two teams since teams don't always have consistent games, there's an off night (or an on one) every now and then.

OK, if that works for you. I personally find it not very gratifying if we beat a team that is missing their best players. I love beating the complete team, no excuses.

Who would you rather beat Austin or AL?

Oh yea, by the way, Bloomington Jefferson has the section 1A bounty on their chest. Beat them for respect.

Knowing Jet, I'm not sure it's possible for TJ to be out for grades (or off honor-roll for that matter.) I'm not sure anyone else matters. They have a few "good" players but no other "role-players".

Austin 9
Fairmont 2

Bloom 3
North 2

Novas 2
West 6

AL 7
SD 1

We'll see from there.
Albert Lea is the greatest.

Ok, I'll bite....
The arrogance of these Cities teams never ceases to amaze me. [-X I'm sure Lakeville South (Lake Conference) thought the same thing last year when they came down for the Tourney, then they got absolutely destroyed by one of those "1A cupcakes" 11-1  . Another one of the "1A cupcakes" played Blaine tough last year but eventually lost 5-2.
Jefferson will catch a break if Jarik and Vy don't play, that's the only shot they have to win that game. Jefferson is the 4th or 5th best team in this tourney.  Jefferson goes 1-2 (loss, win, loss) and looks more like George Jefferson than Thomas Jefferson. :P :P :P

Shame on you for posting on a HOCKEY forum... :D :D :D :D

The Metro teams that are coming down here are at best, mediocre...and if they come down with a superior attitude, they will be even EASIER prey.

I am still waiting for AL to realize that they cannot just stand around on the ice, give up shorties, etc., and expect to beat ANYONE...

Will the REAL Tigers please stand up !!!!!!!!!!

Ok I'll bite was a great comeback. Shows you have a good sense of humor. Just thought I would correct you on the 11-1 score. It was Mankato East that got beat bad not Lakeville South. Any way we look at it, it will be a great tourney.

Vy will definitely be playing in the tournament. Jirik is out for the rest of the season, but the D have stepped up and are playing strong.
