I truly have no idea what to expect, other than a close game. H-M has a strong squad with lots of depth, but a loss to Tartan showed they can be off in la-la land while they should be playing hockey. East has been a bit more inconsistent with some really nice wins (Centennial, Moorhead) and some tough losses (Minnetonka, Cloquet, and WBL). Traditionally games between these two teams are very close and very competitive. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the game go to OT and possibly a shoot out again. Need I talk about Hill and day games again (they don't usually play well while the sun is up)? I'll go with Hill 4-3 in OT...

Common Opponents...

Wayzata:
H-M 5-0 W
DE 6-3 W

WBL:
H-M 5-2 W
DE 2-3 L (prior to WBL losing some top players)

We would really need fans of Wayzata or WBL that happened to see both teams to give us the best honest assessment...

Agreed with Sparlimb, H-M and DE always seem to have close matchups. The Pioneers and Greyhounds are playing some solid hockey as of late, which should make for an entertaining day game on Wednesday. Have to say that H-M's first two lines will continue their offensive roll.

Prediction: Pioneers 6, Greyhounds 2

Hill 4
East 3

Very close and exciting game...I'm saying 4-3 hill as my prediction but would not be surprised at all if it went the other way

This could easily go either way and is probably the best first-round matchup. The Greyhounds have come a long way since some of those early season losses, so I'll pick East. Either way, I think the winner of this one takes the tournament.

As much as I like the way the Greyhounds have been playing as of late...I got to go with H-M. :? Did I really just type that?

For all game live updates go to nscsports.org Select hockey, under tournaments Schwans Cup and then on the right side select schedules and results. They have been really good about sending all the info after each period.
