Wow, I thought Rosemount would prevail. Must have been an entertaining game. Congrats to Brainerd!

Olson and Frazer along with the rest of the Warriors put up a classic battle last night. Every time the Irish scored Brainerd answered. In my opinion Brainerd could have easily scored 4 or 5 more goals and was the better team last night. With a tenacious forecheck Brainerd outworked the Irish. The momentum of the game was back and forth all night. In the end it was tied with Brainerd killing off 1:30 PP for the Irish at the start of overtime. In the end Frazer buries the gamewinner with the help of Tamasy and Shepherd. On a side note I was not impressed with Brown. He is a smooth operator with some nice skills, but he is a one way player who stays out of the mix of things and cherry picks. This works well against weaker teams and you can put up some impressive points. He is also scared to get hit as he clearly avoided Olson many times. This a good start to a series of tough games at the Schwans cup next week and then away to Moorehead and home with Cloquet.

He may avoid contact because he recently suffered a concussion.

That would make sense. He does see the ice well and set up some nice plays with his skills.

I don't know if I would say Brainerd could've scored 4 or 5 more. The game was back and forth all night, but shots ended up around 42-26 in Rosemount's favor. Brainerd plays a very physical game, and it was the most entertaining game I have seen all year for Rosemount. #20 Olson for Brainerd is a very solid player and will be a great player in the future.

As far as Brown not impressing, I'm not sure what you were watching. He only had 4 pts., so I guess it was a mediocre game for him. He set up 3 great goals with perfect passes, something we are not used to seeing from him. He also broke up several rushes from Brainerd, and was one of the best defensive outputs he has had in two years.

Overall, it was a great game, and if Rosmeount wants to make some noise in the playoffs this year, these are games they need to find a way to win. Keep #14 Hawkins out of the box after taking bonehead penalties (2 PP goals from Brainerd after his dumb penalties, then he got benched for the rest of the game).

Might I add that Brainerd had a total of 3 power play goals on the night. This, in turn, is what killed the Irish.

Best game that I've seen this year. Two good, even teams who's stars shined. A big "Thank you" to the Rosemount hockey community for their demonstration of care for the Eigner Family. You are a class organization.

Agreed. That was a very classy gesture by the Rosemount Hockey Community. I second the THANK YOU from riverskater.

Now to something that concerned me....
I thought the officiating was suspect at times, many calls missed both ways, and some borderline calls made. Besides a questionable interference call with 30 seconds left in the 3rd against Brainerd, I don't think that either team was favored at all.

Another thing that bothered me is how picky they were about the faceoffs. I don't think i've ever witnessed a high school game when so many centers were kicked out of the draws... seemed like every draw one or both centers got kicked out. It was almost to the point where the ref dropping the puck was more worried about the players sneaking in behind him than dropping a good faceoff(Many times the puck did not land flat and bounced one way or another). Did anybody else take note of that, or was it just me?

Again, I'm not complaining about the officiating being biased for or against the home team, just thought it was shaky all the way around.
When Hell freezes over, I'll play hockey there too
