Is this an Apollo tournament?
This would also explain why the other three lower bracket teams don’t have a chance in the POLL. Let alone in possible Apollo eye’s.
Talk about unbalanced upper/lower brackets.
Looks like a set-up here for a cake walk for Apollo to say they made the championship. Reminds of YOUTH tournaments set-up.
Sauk Rapids, bring game and you could have fun Holiday weekend.
If it’s TECH or Cathedrals tournament, you guys have the balls to at least be daring enough by giving yourself some competition. Way to go!
Not sure what you got your undies in a bundle for! If you look at last years parings, you'll see that Rogers, Tech, Bismarck Century and Apollo have the same times. The other four teams (slots) are rotated. LDC and SR moved to the bottom bracket while Cathedral and Sartell moved to the top.
In 2006, Apollo played Cathedral in the first round and Tech played Sauk Rapids. As far back as I can find, Apollo has played either Cathedral or Sauk Rapids in the first round. Same holds true for Tech. You could argue that the two other teams on the bottom bracket (Bismark and Litchfield) are not the same caliber as Rogers, but there's not much you can do about that.
My only beef is that Cathedral won't be playing Apollo or Tech in the first round since the beginning of time. In recent years, with Cathedral's talent level, they have been given opportunities to play in some more competitive tournaments. This year, they play Rogers. Nothing against Rogers, but if Cathedral badly wanted them on their schedule, they'd call up Rogers AD and schedule a game.
This has nothing to do with Rogers being bad...as they are probably in the top three of this tourney. I'm not that upset with how it is...as Cathedral will be forced to beat the two best teams in the tourney to get to the Championship...

I'd say that's probably true, and I think Rogers is looking fwd. to playing SCC as another quality opponent, in what is a much better schedule then they have ever had.
They should be be tuned all up after playing Minnetonka this Sat. and ready for the Crusaders
I suppose it'll be time for me to make a pick or two for this tourney...
Quarterfinals
Cathedral over Rogers (4-1)
Tech over Sartell (6-3)
Litchfield over Bismarck (4-4, OT, SO)
Sauk Rapids over The FALLING Apollo Eagles (4-3)
Semifinals
Cathedral over Tech (2-1, OT??)
Sauk Rapids over Litchfield (6-2)
Cathedral 6-2
.......................Cathedral 4-1
Tech 5-2
.................................................Apollo 2-1
Bismarck 2-1
........................Apollo 6-1
Apollo 4-2
Sauk Rapids will dump Apollo in the first round. I had respect for them at the beginning of the year, but now...I don't think they have a big chance at beating a Sauk Rapids team that is playing good hockey right now.

Remember that Apollo has been playing without their #1 goaltender Nate Hampton For the past 3 games. I think he will be back today.
