Well after Anoka's spanking they took from East last night (4-0) I think they'll bounce back and walk out of this tournament 3-0. I just can't see any team that can last with their firepower for all three periods with, O'neill/Scott/Belisle. I could be wrong though, I guess we'll see after the 28th
What are your guys thoughts?

I have three points:

#1 - If this is supposed to be a thread about the SSP Premier tourney, it should be titled differently.

#2 - Since it is titled with the Anoka/Hopkins game, I feel it should be noted that it is merely a sidedish to the entree that is the Johnson/Kennedy game

#3 - Woodbury will win this thing without breaking a sweat. Anoka has shown that they can't play with competitive teams by getting spanked by the only 2 decent teams they've played this season (Centennial & East).

Anoka vs. Hopkins

Post by hockey59 »

The Anoka coaches were urged last summer not to continue playing in this tournament...which no longer fields "Premier" teams...but in any event, Anoka returns.

Last year Woodbury was handled the title based on a bogus check-from-behind major to Anoka's best player...this year Anoka has something to prove after sub-par performances against Cent & DE...and a re-match with Woodbury would be welcome.

What are the odds? Another ref out to get another team!

I'm not convinced Anoka will even beat Hopkins. They're no joke, and if you're already looking ahead to Woodbury, you may be setting yourself up for disapointment. Anoka has the toughest draw in that tournament - if they think they're above playing it, they might be shocked back into reality on Wednesday.

I think Hopkins is a joke, 9-0, but check that schedule, absolutely brutal. I guess we'll see though.

A Joke ? they just beat anoka like 5-1 ? i think u guys should give hopkins allitle more respect they are 9-0 and yes they havent played the toughest teams but there playing concistant good hockey. Thats a first for a hopkins team they have always been kinda up and down. with fink gone this team is relaying on TEAMWORk to win games. They move the puck nicely.

but i do agree that anoka is bad. They are the laziest team i have seen play. There defensive play blows.

Anoka out-shot Hopkins...but poor goaltending and defensive play (by all the skaters) has demoralized Anoka the last 3 games...they overcame it against Coon Rapids, but couldn't against East and Hopkins...they need to find some answers fast.

Against Hopkins they basically rolled over in the 3rd period...something last years team never did.

I can't wait to see what Hopkins does against a real team this year... it will be interesting. 3-2 win over a weak Hermantown team is their best win so far I believe.
