Edina Tournament Poll

Post by MNHockeyFan »

The Edina Tournament has a strong lineup of teams and should be very competitive. Who will win?

Anyone have a schedule of these games? I'd like to know what the bracket looks like...

Pretty difficult to pick a winner from that field. For the record, I went with GRG. If I may hedge a little, I'd give an edge to Edina, AHA & GRG over the others. Should be an excellent tournament...with all the talent I'd expect lots of top notch action. Too bad (for fans) Sarah E will be absent.

Interesting with Bacon out for BSM and Wild gone for CDH - two big impact players.

Quote from joehockey "Does Lea Jondahl the Wisconsin transfer goalie for Cretin Deram Hall make her eligibility debut in the first or second game of the tournament?"

A lot of pressure put on kid that is coming in half way through the season.
If Jondahl is half as good as every one says she is she'll be fine. With all the hype 10 shutouts in a row wouldn't be enough. Let her play I don't think goalie of the year is an option this late.In her situation taking her team to state and proving her ability to herself after a long absense would be huge. Let's face it there are many goalies that have posted big results for the first half at this point all you are doing is hyping her up??? Take some pressure off and let her play.

I don't think joehockey was trying to put pressure on Miss Jondahl. He was merely asking if she was going to start playing at this point in the season, which is a perfectly legitimate question.

I like GRG in this one. They have a lot of confidence coming off of their big win over Duluth. They'll definitely have some tough games, but with their 1st two potential opponents having top players missing- Bacon of BSM, and Wild from CDH- that should make their route to finals a little easier. Any chance of live updates for these games on grhshockey.com ?

Does MN Made Arena have wireless internet? If they do, I can do the first two games.

Rumblings out of GRG is that the final of this tourny is on FSN. I have seen no confirmation, and the Wild play on FSN at 7:00 p.m. that night, so I don't really buy into it, but has anyone heard that?

Just checked the program guide and Saturday night they are televising the Wild game, then the Gopher men (which must be tape delayed). However Sunday night they are showing "To Be Announced" so I suppose there is at least a chance they could fit the tournament final game in there, on a tape delayed basis.

Hill Murray 4 BSM 1

Interesting note 4th/last goal was credited to HM Goalie Paige as puck was passed back by BSM to point but went length of ice into open net.

The Lightning dominated the game from the get-go and outshot Cretin 11-3 in the first period. Dana Gallop got the scoring started with under a minute to go on the first on a rebound goal. The Lightning would get outshot 13-12 in the middle frame, but lead 4-1 after one. Molly Illikainen scored the prettiest goal of the game after she took a pass from Markie DeGrio from behind the net on the power play and went top shelf to make it 2-0. Emily Erickson netted her first since committing to BSU to make it 3-0 Lightning. Katie Macini scored for Cretin to make it 3-1, but Molly Arola answered with her 16th goal of the year to make it 4-1 at the end of two periods. The Lightning again dominated the third period and outscored Cretin 3-1 in the final rock. Dana Gallop and Emily Erickson both scored their second goals of the game and both were unassisted early in the third. Erickson's goal was shorthanded. Michelle Fischer scored a goofy goal to cut the lead to four. Molly Arola finished the scoring by putting away her second of the game on the power play at 14:36 of the third.Kelly Wild did not play for Cretin, but Kelsey Scott and Amelia Knudson did. Both goaltenders played pretty well as GRG had many great opportunities. Bessie Havel was outstanding in goal for GRG. Cretin will face BSM tomorrow at 12:30 in the consolation semi-final and GRG will take on Hill-Murray at 3:00 p.m. semi-final #1.
