highlight the obvious:

Phillippi from Hill
Caschetta from Edina

goalie I have noticed who is super hot right now is Swansson from Jefferson. Have seen him play several times before and have been unimpressed, however I saw his data in the GF tourney and heard from word of mouth that he was super hot, and watched him play good hockey against Wayzata.

Also, that goalie from lakeville south, Yumslaker (spelling????) He was a favorite of mine and havent heard or seen anything. I thought he should be a senior this year, am I wrong? did he leave?

Yeah Yumusaklar is still at LS and is a senior (he decided not to go to juniors this year). He is a great goalie but has kind of struggled at times this year. Either way he is not a kid I would want to play in sections. He gives South a legit shot at section 1.

Nate Hampton from St. Cloud Apollo isn't a name that most people would bring up in this argument but anyone who has seen him play knows how good he is. He's been seeing around 50 shots a game and giving up 3-4 goals a game.

Its very tough to compare these 3 goalies....Caschetta and Phillippi are playing with all star teams in front of them....Yumsaklar has dealt with sub par teams all 3 years, but still managed to hang in there and get the recognition of USHL and D1 scouts....You cant do anything as a goalie when you make the first save, second save, sometimes even teh 3rd save, but the 4th and 5th go in. Hes the best Ive seen in high school in the past 2 years...

Dylan Thomas and Matt Arentz have also been playing very well for Lakeville North

Nate Hoeflinn. Hands Down.
When hell freezes over, I'll play hockey there too.

Caschetta is not having a great year this year a lot of weak goals from what i've seen. Not saying he's bad but not amazing.

You have got to be kidding. Yumusaklar is way way overated. Obviously you have not seen him play this year. He also did not have a good year on Elite. Or maybe he was just on a sub par team. He lets to many soft goals in high on the first shot.

ive seen him play twice this year...a tie vs eastview..and a 3-2 loss to AV...both games, he kept him team in the game with his defense leaving him out to dry....from looking at stats, his elite team was awful...as far as overrated, a goalie from a team that hasnt won more than 10 games in their 3 years combined gets drafted USHL and hes overrated? I dont agree.

Just maybe he's a big part of why his team has lost so many games. Again I say he lets in to many soft goals. Shoot high is the word. Don't get me wrong here, he is a good goalie, and does make some good saves, but in my opinion is way overated.

Would have to agree on the goalie from Hill watching him last year, yet to see improvement this year.

Had the opportunity to see Edina's goalie twice this year and do not believe he is even close to the top tier. Average goalie at best and seems to give up too many long rebounds. Actually think that if Edina has a weekness its him in nets. Saw the quarterfinal against Rapids last year and besides a nice glove on a breakway was not impressive.

If Crandall was back in nets for STA he would be in this for sure, looks like he is enjoying fighting for the Gamblers instead this year!

I disagree. Theres a reason hes been so highly regarded and drafted in the USHL as a junior. Hes the real deal from what Ive seen...but we will see what happens the rest of the way

Mitch Smith from Mahtomedi has been standing on his head. He was incredible in the shootout vs Stillwater

Phillippi? What a joke. He has good D but he is not that good

The best one two punch would definitely have to be Hanna and Strand from Centennial. Although, they have been losing lately. Phillipi is not a bad goalie that relys on his D to make him good. But he isnt all that special.

I forgot Hanna, good call, I havent seen allot of Centennial games this year, but from what I have seen Hanna has looked pretty solid.

What the deal with O'Shea from Eastview, Im not positive on this but wasnt he starting as a freshmen last year? I was unimpressed with his abilities, when I watched him play Jefferson's weak team last year, however he is pretty young and thats a fair excuse for me. Does anybody know the story behind him? Starting him so young, is Eastview low on Goalies, or is he expected to develop

Stats: 1.33 GAA
92.9 Save Percentage

Good "D' or not, that's a pretty impressive save percentage. A "not that good goalie" isn't going to post numbers like those.

You can't base a goalie's ability solely on the stats, especially GAA and SV%. A goalie seeing 10-15 shots a game, should have a high SV % and a low GAA. You have to take into consideration the toughness of shot, teams they face, and alot of other factors.

I have found that MAXPREPS is pretty inaccurate. I think www.pointstreak.com is a lot more accurate.

The thing with MAXPREPS is, out of the those top 10 goalies for GAA, some come from good teams and play good teams, but what games did those goalies play and how many games have they even seen. If its a game where you can give your regular a night off they play and have success would the yhave that same success playing night in and night out against solid teams though?

Finally somebody wakes up and notices that. THANK YOU!

You simply cannot rate a goalie on stats

It's a mix of both , the thing is he has never done enough to make a solid stand as the #1 guy their. He is very undersized and didn't get any bigger from last year. It's kinds been the same story as last year. He play play an alright game but then he'll get rocked. Still unimpressed this year with him as I was also last year.
