HM vs. Tonka
Tomorrow's Gold Championship is a rematch from 2006 State QF's. which was a great game won by Hill 5-4 when both goalies, Phillipi and Buonomo, were sophomores.
The winner should take over top billing in the rankings to close out 2007.
I like the boys in Blue tomorrow in a 4-3 thriller...

I am very interested to see this game. These teams almost never play each other and clearly they both have strong teams this year. This will be good for both programs as they will be able to assess where they are. I thought Minnetonka looked like a really nice squad tonight, but Roseville didn't have the firepower of Hill. I think if Tonka can stay in the game early and not get down 3 goals, they will do just fine. I'm going to predict they do get down 3 goals however and I'll take H-M 5-2.
I know, I'm a homer...

I've seen both at the X and believe that Hill has more depth and is "clicking" right now. Im not a Pioneer fan but they appear to be on track to roll through this tourney rather easily. Whichever goalie Tonka starts is going to get a workout. I personally like the Kruger kid who stoned Roseville by saving 28 shots. He takes up a lot of room and will at least make the target smaller for Furne and company. Tonka can't slow the Pioneer wagon train...

this should be an awesome game! Gotta go with tonka 5-3, they are too hot right now. Hill is a solid team and always dangerous, and I cant wait to see a showdown between Bounomo and Phillippi. Also, that Zepeda from Hill has really impressed me, but the Hill team overall its not going to match up well against Tonka.
Shoulda stayed Pauly, they might be on to something this year

That is a homer score pickHillfan wrote:As I've said, the offense will keep rolling for the Pioneers. I predict a H-M win, lets say 6-2.
Hill will not blow them out. It should be a good game.
Personally, I give the D nod to the Minnetonka. Forward nod to Hill. Both teams are on a roll. Goal-tending and special teams should decide this one.

Pauly's departure was planned. He wanted to give Tonka a 3yr shot and re-evaluate. He might have reconsidered for a 4th year, but after this season, the talents drops off.
Coach Urich inherited a great talent base to work with in the senior class. However, the Jr. class is non-existant (Coatta has a June bday and should be a Senior. He is older than some of the curent seniors on the team).
The sophomore class is okay, but they never quite put it together during their youth days. This group might end up like Anoka a few years ago, didn't do much as youth players, but won the big one as Seniors.
Tonka will be very young next year, with maybe 4 seniors, 10 to 12 juniors and a couple of sophs. Look for them to enjoy this year, and struggle next season.

Tonka-Hill
Tonka looked good last night against Roseville. They may be the first team Hill has played this year that has the defense to match up against Hill's forwards. I'll take Tonka 4-3.
