I think you will be suprised by this young AL team, when they played Lourdes they outplayed them and i believe out shot them but couldnt capitalize. Albert Lea is known for working extremely hard and playing very well in big games, and o ya another advantage they have... coach of the year in Roy Nystrom. It should be a good old fashioned grudge match.
I know their YOUR predictions but these picks are a little off IMO. At one point you have Denfeld beating Princeton 2-1. Denfeld already beat Princeton 9-0 this season. You also have Lourdes beating Falls which won't likely happen and I don't think TG will beat Denfeld either. It will be Princeton and Richfield in the Toilet Bowl and Albert Lea will certainly not be in the championship game. The only reason they'll even make the third place game is because they have Princeton in the first round. The winner of the Denfeld - TG game will be in the championship game; most likely against International Falls. BUT, that is just my opinion compared to yours.
your an idiot hands down... nice predictions except for one which is the only one that matters..

Though I don't think it made a difference in the outcome those officials who did the Mayo/Century game were hopelessly outmatched by the game. They did a nice job in the first game but didn't ever seem to get a handle on the intracity game. If all worked out both teams got out of there healthy.
Goldy, I could not agree more. Luckily it did not look like any major injuries since all the guys were able to get up off the ice under their own power. The thing I do not understand about refs is the inconsistent calls - if you see it and call it one way, you have to call it the other way. I see that happen more than the 'Homering' you speak of.....and to be honest, I sometimes think Zmolek is the ultimate anti-homer, as if he hates all Rochester teams.
What did you think of the game besides the chippiness/lack of control by the refs?
I liked the intensity....both teams might not be as skilled as teams in the past, but both have good goaltending, worked hard, played the body, and for the most part did not give up. Century showed they have more skill than some think to go with their grit. Mayo showed they do have some grit, but need to have better team play at times.
As far as the four teams in the semi-finals - you could throw the names in the hat and pick two and get about the same quality of championship game.
Last thing, I called it 3-1 Mayo....heck, there was even and empty-netter, although not officially!!!

Seems like you're getting quite defensive.
I think this will be a very good game, goaltending will be the key. Could go either way.

Personally, I disagree. But the guy did call me an idiot. If he's going to do that why doesn't he at least make a prediction? Anybody can come talk s*** after the result. Grow a pair and make a prediction BEFORE you run your mouth.LZ94 wrote:Seems like you're getting quite defensive.

International Falls wins this game.
AL
Fakeprofessor, your comment was that AL CERTAINLY wouldn't make the championship game. How many times have you seen them play? Is your opinion based solely on geography? I haven't seen I-Falls play so I really couldn't say. AL and Lourdes had a very good game, Lourdes sounded like they took it to I-Falls pretty good by doubling their shots. AL tender plays up to his capabilities, AL-3 I-Falls-1.

I haven't seem them play this year but I have in the past and I was very unimpressed. Maybe they got a few more good players, maybe they just got lucky yesterday, OR maybe Denfeld is just not the team everyone thought they'd be this year. I really don't know, what I do know is everyone has different opinions. You think Albert Lea is going to win tonight, I do not.

which games did you watch that you were unimpressed with? just curious if it was during the season AL had 3 losses, 2 to century and 1 to the state champs warroad or if it was one of the other last 3 out of 4 years they went to state? was it last year when they dominated the top 5 ranked "powerhouse" little falls? but your right we all have our own opinions... i just had to put my 2 cents in

I would say something right now but it would blow this argument WAY out of proportion. You do some thinking and you can probably figure out just what it is I want to say. I'm done with this thread right now; go ahead AL fans, keep talkin.Tigerpride2 wrote:which games did you watch that you were unimpressed with? just curious if it was during the season AL had 3 losses, 2 to century and 1 to the state champs warroad or if it was one of the other last 3 out of 4 years they went to state? was it last year when they dominated the top 5 ranked "powerhouse" little falls? but your right we all have our own opinions... i just had to put my 2 cents in

6-5 Buffalo over Mayo
Nut, I want to hear your spin on how anyone not affiliated with Mayo can leave tonights game and not think "homer" Dusso allowed Mayo a goal with Alexander in the crease and interferring with the goalie, didn't call a penalty when Buffalo's #5 was knocked from behind into the net and was lost for the game, and never gave Buffalo a goal that hit the back of the net and came out. Dusso may not be a "homer" but he was at center of all those calls, blew all those calls, and it would be tough to say he was anything near neutral. Yes, Buffalo's last goal was another great piece of officiating but it may have been a huge travesty had the game ended any other way

Dusso
That Ref is unbelievable. I don't know how anyone can call him a homer. His ot call in the Ifalls/lourdes game was terrible. I think he wanted to be the #1 star of the Buffalo/Mayo game. He made/blew calls both directions. What the hell happened at the end, his arm was raised, Mayo shoots it in, Buffalo touches it and he didn't blow the whistle.....time runs out?

Goldy - Dusso was brutal...Fedoryk is also brutal. You can call it homer if you must, or just brutal - I prefer the later. I heard that Forletti gave him quite the earful yesterday - I wondered why he wasn't on the bench in the 3rd place game against Denfeld today.
As far as the calls - the one with Alexander in the crease, I think was ok. I don't know the exact rule, but the Buffalo defenseman drove Alexander in there, so I think it is legit. They should have been a penalty when #5 was ridden into the net - one of MANY penalties missed tonight - many penalties for BOTH teams not called - not to mention the bs calls the refs made - most noteable the call on Schultz for 'high sticking' when he stick was caught in the boards and on the ice.
From my angle I thought the one that you call a Buffalo goal hit the inside post and came out the other side....it happened fast, so I can't be sure. I do however know that that play was offside by a good margin.
There were TWO goals by Buffalo that might not have been good - the one off the boards may not have crossed the line completely - that was Fedoryk on that one. The last one looked covered, but it was quite the pile in front and Dusso was on the backside and pointed in right away.
Now let me ask you this, if Dusso were a classic 'homer', wouldn't there have been a quick whistle at that point?
With all that being said, it does not matter. Mayo blew it big time....total meltdown. Their starting goalie gave up 2-3 soft goals. Their best forward lost his cool and removed himself from the game. Several of their role players looked lost/scared. A tough loss, but one that might help them down the stretch perhaps?

Goldy- if you are talking about the shot in the 2nd, when Buffalo's crowd went wild, it for sure didn't go in. I was sitting right down in the corner and it hit the post and popped back out.
As for the rest of the game, I don't think the refs called as much as they should have a points, but they did alright sometimes, too. I didn't get to see the last goal because I was way down in the opposite corner, but it looked like Yaggy was pretty pissed when he got up. I don't know if he had it covered or what.
Buffalo played physical, Mayo is a little bit smaller, and I think that was a big difference. I thought Mayo had this one for sure when it was 5-4, but that's why they play the game.
