It will probably happen just like Anoka and Elk River They just couldn't handle there old section so they had to move up North. Why don't you ask them if that is a great move or not. Hill is better off staying in there little comfort Zone, Like they always have!!!

It will be interesting to hear some eyewitness accounts but it looks like Flip might have choked.

The Pointstreak gamesheet also shows a slew of penalties occurring by both teams once Tonka gained a 3 goal lead in the 3rd. Frustration???

hard check in the boards, #8 on tonka flipped and brought on a fight. Gloves were almost dropped.

Flip played an awful game. atleast 2 of them were easy saves.

Phillippi was off tonight, let in a couple easy goals. That definately threw off Hill's game. It seemed to me like the team came in expecting to win, and underestimated their opponent.
As for the Skippers, they played very solid defense and took advantage of opportunities. They deserved the win

does Phillippi ever play well when the competition is even with the team he has in front of him? he seems to struggle in the big games.

Hill flat out got outplayed last night. I thought Phillippe played fine. Minnetonka's D was excellent escpecially on the breakout passes and as a team didn't turn the puck over much. Hill maybe had 3 odd man rushes all night.

Jake Gardiner was easily the best player on the ice last night.

The achilles heal of this team is Philippi.

He looks great against the weak conference teams they play and he plays well against White Bear, other than that, he's an average goalie playing in front of a great team.

I'd rather have a goalie like a Reider Jensen of GR as my keeper.

Nope your thinking of a similar name but different player from Edina . I have always known Jake to be in the Tonka system. Raiola moved in from Chaska in around 9th grade.

Tonka's got a top 5 team. No doubt. Thev'e got a couple of D that made the difference tonight. I wouldn't count out the Pioneers quite yet. Too much overall talent..

Is it that big of a deal? I based the prediction off the fact that H-M's offense has been rolling all season and that Phillippi has played fairly solid during that span. So they had an off game. Minnetonka turned out to be a stronger team (especially defensively) than I had thought. Don't think my prediction was pure bias, it was purely opinion. Had Minnetonka been the favorite, then I more than likely would have seen them as the likely victor.

By the way, this was the Schwan Cup. It's wasn't sectional or state tournament play. It's better for a team like H-M to get a loss or two off of their belts in the middle of the season so that they could possibly run up momentum towards sectional time.

Congrats to 'Tonka and good luck with the nice team they have. Better hope they don't get too overconfident after the tourney win...

Tonka won every single phase of the game. They were better offensively, defensively, on special teams, goaltending, generating chances, capitalizing on chances, etc. They dominated H-M and it wasn't pretty. Doesn't mean it will be that way next time around, but Minnetonka sure deserves a lot of praise for that game.

I was at the game. Phillippi made 33 saves. Many of them were from close range. He gets none of the blame for this loss. Minnetonka is big, strong and skates well. They knocked the HM forwards off of their game. HM dominated the first period and it would have been a different game had they converted some of their many chances. Minnetonka owned the last half of the game. HM's forwards made way too many blind passes and had turnovers giving Tonka several odd man rushes. They did no back checking. Give Tonka credit for this one. They played a full 51 minutes of very good hockey.

This was the first chance I had to see Hill this year and although I believe they're a very good team, they looked less than energetic. They could never seem to connect on passes and lost a lot of battles for loose pucks. They obviously have skill, but played like they were tired or bored. Minnetonka, on the other hand, seemed impassioned - skating hard, moving their feet, tough defensively, working for loose pucks. I agree with Sparlimb that they outplayed Hill in every facet of the game. On a different night, who knows? The Skippers can play, that's for sure, just wish I could have seen the Hill Murray that everyone talked about after the East game.

I was really surprised by that myself Hilltopper. They just never got going. Even the one goal wasn't enough to give them a big surge of energy. I did feel Hill never got a good bounce, but they certainly weren't earning them either. Give the kids another month or two and they will be much better. They have the talent to beat anyone, but it sure is disturbing to see the lack of enthusiasm they had in this game. To be quite honest, this game sure looked a heck of a lot like Hill's last 4 state tournament games (all losses)...

It was their 3rd game in 3 days... not an excuse, but it does have some effect.

I believe you underestimated the competition. I know the top players on both teams. No way would I have predicted blow out.
