Spuds v. Tigers
Home game for the spuds.....they should win.
After graduating 15 from last years Section runner up team they are showing improvements. They have a tough schedule with games against Brainerd, Roseau, Bloom Jeff, EP, Hill, and Wayzata to name a few.
Spuds 5, Tigers 1

I think if tech can win thursday vs. sr, they'll go into the moorhead game confident.nsideHocKey17 wrote:Moorehed isn't cathedral. Spuds 9-0.

I'd call you a tool, but even THEY serve a purpose
well said spence. so much speculation, only time and results will tell...puckluck19 wrote:Tech is playin pretty well right now but to get anywhere in post season they need to compete with teams like moorhead. This should be a good test of what this team can do.

I don't know who will win. Obviously Tech is the underdog, which is always good. I do know that if the Tech D plays well and supports their tender by clearing rebounds, it won't be a blowout, even if Tech loses.
If they play physical, which Moorhead would rather not, and if they can forecheck the hell out of the Spuds, I think the game will be very competitive and close. I like the way Tech is playing as a team. Sure AC had a ton of points in the GCC Championship, but these kids are all contributing and playing their roles, which means everything.
Like Kipling said "The strength of the wolf is the pack."

It all depends on how the spud goal tending will work out.
Wagner is a senior but this is his first year @ varsity. He doesn't play very well technically and leaves a lot of loose pucks laying around the crease.
Marks is a softmore, so this is his first year at the high school level. He played bantam 'A's last year. He is technically very sound and doesn't give up a lot of goals but he is young still and if he gets rattled early on it could be trouble. For the most part though he is a very sound tender and the spuds would do well to just make him the starter for the rest of the year, but from what i have seen so far they have been alternating them.
Moorhead definitely plays with a lot more confidence defensively and they are much more aggressive in the defensive zone when Marks is in net.
That said, i believe it is Wagners start against Brainerd Thursday and Marks start against Tech. Saturday.

I have a gut feeling you're right Goldy, but Tech is playing solid hockey right now and you can't deny that...but Moorhead will most likely set them back in their seat.Goldy Gopher wrote:Congrats Tech, you can win the Granite City Classic and beat three class A teams in the process. Moorhead brings everyone from Tech back down to earth in a 5-1 win.

You cannont compare a Moorhead game to a SCC or Apollo game. Moorhead is a completely different level of hockey than a SCC or Apollo team can offer. So just like I would expect SCC or Apollo to get dominated by the Spuds; I also expect Tech to get dominated by them as well.
Would be great to see Tech prove this otherwise, though.

Moorhead is certainly a different level of hockey, but I can see Tech proving most people wrong and putting up a good fight, but the only question is will/can they?OldTimer1234 wrote:You cannont compare a Moorhead game to a SCC or Apollo game.
