Paul Brandrup was the best player I ever saw in Rochester. There have been a lot of good ones but he really stood out. He'd play in oldtimer tournaments and outskate current collegians even though he only skated a couple times a year.

JM: Brandrup, Paul Butters, Guy Gosselin, & Jeff Nelson
Mayo: Doug Weick, John Johannson, Eric Strobel, Steve DeBus
Lourdes: Pat Arendt by a landslide

Doug Zmolek was the best QB I've seen in Rochester, a darn good hockey player too. Kevin Colgan was a great athlete as well. They may be two of the best athletes I've seen.

You left one of his biggest achievements off the resume.

Coached the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes Blackhawks to the Section 7 Championship game.

Can you really claim Orlando as one of your own? Wasn't he part of the scam EV ran?

And as a very blue collar town, SSP also had some great players who weren't very well suited for the college experience. Examples:

- John Shewchuck ('73) -- big kid, wicked slap shot, scored a bazillion goals
- Larry Housley ('81) -- Phil's older brother

To the general list of SSP greats, I would add:

- Terry Abram, '64(?) (All-American at UND, coach of Roseau HS in the early 70's)
- Warren Miller, '72 (UM, Team USA, WHA, NHL). (Edit: My bad ... I see you already had him listed)
- John Young, '88 (Mich. Tech)

Cory Laylin was a pretty good Eagle in his day as well, if I remember correctly.

Yes, but just slightly below being a friend of mine. And, a reminder to us all, kids win the games, coaches lose the games. :D
