I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I sure did.
It was great driving in to work today after 4 days off. What a winter wonderland.
The slow drive in gave me time to reflect on just how great everything is.
I must admit that when I left the office last Friday, one of the things I looked forward to was The Viking game on Sunday night. Sure, the kids were home form college and the family was gathering for Christmas and all that but the game was to be part of that.
Well, those Vikings sure didn't dissappoint us. That first half was "Like a Dream Come True" The fans on hand at the Metrodome sure enjoyed it. Say, ah , is there somebody named "Lou" on the team?
To come so close to making it a competitive game was just outstanding on the part of our Precious Purple. With the Redskins being 7-7 and all , you knew it was going to be tough.
Unfortunately #7's "Dream" turned into a "Nightmare" early on. But it was so exciting to see Fred Smoot again and so early into the game.
Well Vikings, we had a Blue Christmas with out you.
But watching the Schwan's will be" Like a Dream Come True"

Beat to loose pucks, badly outshot, bad defense, and bad goaltending...they got beat worse than PB at a Sunday confessional..
You are right schwang, my visits to the confessional were always lengthy and loud. Everybody stared at me when I came out and everybody was always done with their penance before me.
But never on Sunday. Saturday in the late afternoon.
Growing up Catholic..."Its Like a Dream Come True"
The only thing better in the world than hockey is extra hockey and my three favorite teams all delivered it yesterday.
First off, the Pirates did drop their 2007 finale but did hold off that suburban-fat cat-cake eating-behemoth St. Louis Park until the 6th minute of bonus time.
The Stars withstood a third period Paul Kariya hatty to post a deuce in that Western Conference dogfight via a Mike Modano forhander in the third inning of the shoot out.
The Wild went wild in the third by erasing a three goal deficit to force the extra session and then sent the sellout crowd home smiling with a PP tally early in the OT.
Tubby and the Boys are dualing in the desert and can finish off a 3x3 weekend in Vegas and post a 11-1 start to the season with a win over the Rebels tomorrow night.
The Vikings will put the finishing touches on an improbable, highly self gratifying 8-8 season tomorrow afternoon and send all of us home just salivating for things to get going again next August.
With nearly everyone firing on all pistons, this sports scene is like a dream come true.
Purple Pride took on a whole new meaning the last 2 weeks. The Vikes turned in gutty solid performances against a 7-7 and 6-9 team but still came up empty. Dissapointing but it sure bodes well for next season.
You have to be impressed with the way the Viking coaches were able to couter act what other teams were doing to shut dowm AP.
The Gopher pucksters. Pride on Ice is also taking on a whole new meaning. With a one goal loss against RIT , this team is starting to jell. You cant expect a win against those RIT boys. They wear those pocket protectors when not on the ice.
And then to follow it up with a big tie against Air Force , wow. Boys Town will surely try to lure away Lucia now.
And Tubby's boys stayed within 20 or so of UNLV, which is just fantastic.
The Vikings end the season like everyone would expect, average. What took teams so long to realize we have 3 QB's and between all them couldn't throw the ball? How dare they try to stop the run! BUT next year everyone is a year wiser and we get a win, or two, more.
The Wolves suck. And I expected so much from the 300 mentally handicapped players Boston gave us for KG! Why can't a team of rookies and bench warmers win, why! BUT atleast we'll have the most balls in the lottery at the end of the year.
The Wild will play great for a few games and then bad for a few. In the end they will make the playoffs. Everyone will be excited, expecting another miracle like in the 03 playoffs. BUT in the end they bow out early, and we all know they'll do better next year
Packerboy takes an IQ test, and despite his best effort, scores lower than Corky from Life Goes On. He then gets mad and makes comments that once again prove his subpar IQ. BUT in the end he likes watching hockey, so we think nothing of it and just read his posts and laugh.
The Gopher basketball team has a good season. They win just enough games to get into the NIT and lose in the quarterfinals. Or they make the real tourney and get blown out, take your pick. BUT Tubby is a winner, and he will bring in great recruits.
But boys, HS doesnt talk about politics and religion so the admins think he is great.
Besides, I liked his "loser thread". I was just going to chime in with: "Well ,maybe we should have a state tournamnet for these teams and call the winner "state champ" .
The material the guy gives us to work with....its...well, "Its Like a Dream Come True"

Cause I'm C.N.T I'm dynamite
C.N.T. and I'll win that fight
C.N.T. I'm a power load
C.N.T. watch me explode
I'm dirty, mean and mighty unclean
I'm a wanted man
Public enemy number one
Understand?
So lock up your daughter
Lock up your wife
Lock up your back door
And run for your life
The man is back in town
So don't you mess around
Cause I'm C.N.T. I'm dynamite
C.N.T. and I'll win the fight
C.N.T.. I'm a power load
C.N.T. watch me explode

Having AC DC write a song about you.
Now that's Like A Dream Come True.
Wow IS I'm flattered
Here all along I had the lyrics wrong....after all the X-mas treats the last line of the song is fitting as well
I was having a good day and then I come on to check out the thread and what do I see?
A big picture of BIAFP's "Dream"girl.
Ill tel yah, "Its Like a Nightmare".
Hopefully our neighbors the Iowans will feel the same way.
A resounding defeat would be Like a Dream Come True.
But enough about me.
Nice rendition of that old AC/DC tune by IS.
Glad to see the puckster back at it.
I see the TWolves are holding at 4 wins. Interesting blurb in the Red Star about the draft day trade that led to Randy Foye being here and Brandon Roy going to Portland. Another great move by McHale.
Having Kevin as the GM........ "Its Like a Dream Come True"
Now that the stockings, which were hung with care, have been torn down in haste and everything that is Christmas has returned to its shelf on the east wall of my garage, it is time to get on with what makes winter great.
What I am refering to? The meat grinder of January and February. A six week period where the men separate themselves from the boys and jockey for the all important seedings that can make or break a playoff run. By now the meaningless holiday tournaments sponsored by Kiwanis Clubs and Ice Cream manufacturers are in the rear view mirror. Freshmen and Sophs are no longer pups, they've had a dozen games to figure it out or return to the path of least resistance and play with their childhood buddies in the 5:15 game.
November and December triumphs are now ancient history and playing hurt and staying healthy become one in the same.
Ah, bring on those sub-zero temps, the northwest arctic winds, the 12am return times, and those home and homes with the Waves, Prowlers, and Warriors.
HS hockey in the North, It's like a dream come true.
