it looks like krogen got the best of those top defensemengopherfan06 wrote:http://www.geocities.com/dent0110/players2008.htmlCan you give me a link to this information that ranks all junior defensemen in the state?
Burgau and Kohn listed in the Juniors, Krogen from Marshall listed in the top Seniors. Great site for rankings, players, etc.

You heard it here first. Willmar will win this Section. I've seen every team in the Section play except for Hutch and a few of the low enders. They will beat Hutch in the sec. championship game. Marshall & New Ulm will be the other teams in the semi's.
Willmar has the size, strength and grit to be a good playoff team. It takes a while to break old habits but their attitude adjustments seem to be having a positive affect (or is it effect?). They also have the best goaltender in the section by a mile.
New Ulm might struggle a bit more without French as would any team in this section w/out one of its top 5. Goaltending will also keep them out of the tourney. They will however beat Marshall in New Ulm by 3 and a half goals. Take it to the bank!
LDC is the one team I can't quite figure out yet. Beyond two really solid players, I don't think they are deep enough to contend. They do have state tournament experience though. Look it up!
Bergau and kohn are the top 2 D in the section. Ogdahl from Marshall looked good when I saw him. It looks like his overall skating is the only thing keeping him from being able to play at another level.
Krogen is the best scorer - no one else is close. He's one of the very few guys in sec 3 whose skills can translate to being a good Metro hockey playeer.
Mankato West would waltz thru this section this year. MSHL did everyone in sec 3 a huge favor. It will fun to watch in late Feb. Good luck to everyone.

I think NU has also been to the state tournament as well as Litch and Hutch. I think the #1 seeding will be determined in early February. When do seeding really come out?

Thanks for putting that up. So whoever was said that they looked pretty average and whatever else, wise up. They are THE best defensive tandem in the 3A.gopherfan06 wrote:http://www.geocities.com/dent0110/players2008.htmlCan you give me a link to this information that ranks all junior defensemen in the state?

I'm going to go ahead and say the section is either Marshall's or New Ulm's. I'm not saying that Willmar doesn't have a chance, but it's a very long shot. I thought Marshall was going to run away with it until they played like trash against Willmar.mtnet wrote:If youthink Willmar's win/loss record will keep them from winning the section, check out New Ulm's record they year they went to the tourney. You're going to have to do a little digging but you'll find it! WOW!
p.s. I'm fairly sure French will be out for 3-4 weeks. He's a tough kid, so I'm going to bet on him being back before sections at least.

I completely agree with that statement about Marshall. If they play to their potential I feel it is their section to win or lose.RoarzgEagles19 wrote:I'm going to go ahead and say the section is either Marshall's or New Ulm's. I will not write anybody out at this point in time, especially Willmar. They may not have the best record out there, but they seem to play hard for most of the game and have a few lapses. If they get their consistency in line they could be a threat.
Willmar , good goaltending, i dont know what your on but that aint correct , that is the biggest weakness of that team, how many have played there this year , think they got 3 or 4 that rotate,, If marshall has to play willmar any where along the line well lets say good bye to Marshall, not a good match up, and if LDC gets willmar say good bye to Willmar, Hutch plays Willmar tommorrow afternoon, see how that stirs things up
When New Ulm went it was different, they seeded the teams 1-22 in section 1, the top 8 were Tier 1, the rest Tier 2. It was much better to be seeded 9 or 10 than it was to be seeded 6, 7, or 8.mtnet wrote:If youthink Willmar's win/loss record will keep them from winning the section, check out New Ulm's record they year they went to the tourney. I think Marshall and New Ulm are definitely more solid than Willmar. If either team does play good hockey the rest of the season, without major injuries, either should win the section. Though French is out for New Ulm, I think he will be back for important games. He was skating the other day I heard, so the hand can't keep him out for too long. I'm hoping he will be back to full strength before Shattuck.minnhockey33 wrote:I completely agree with that statement about Marshall. I think the #1 seed is still up for grabs, today's game between Hutch and Willmar will be huge. If Willmar wins they still have a chance to be #1. In the two games against Marshall, Willmar pretty much beat them up and down the rink. Willmar has a hard time staying out of the box, but in the loss to Marshall I heard penalties were like 4 to 1 or something like that. While Marshall is beating up on the Redwood Falls and Worthingtons of world Willmar is playing pretty even hockey with the Fergus Falls, Little Falls and Brainerds. Willmar is improving so hang on, it will get interesting. Also, thank god Mankato West is out. WOW I heard Leverman is going to MSUM which I think is FANTASTIC!
