Frazee.................?
Hey New Jersey, do you want your goalie now? I'm tired of hearing how much talent Jeff Frazee has. I'm tired of hearing how well he's played in junior tournaments. He's awful! I know the whole Gophers squad has underachieved this year, but this RIT game takes the cake. Their was 1 talented goalie on the ice and he was wearing orange and black. The gophers will NEVER be a national championship contender with Frazee in goal. He's just as bad between the ears as he is between the pipes. He's got that out-of-control style that will get him nowhere. OK, I'm done now. I'm just frustrated that I made sure I didn't catch the score so I could watch the tape delay of the RIT game. If we're going to lose, all I ask is that I've heard of the team that beats us. Rochester Tech?

I agree that Kangas should see most of the minutes from here on out.
But the one thing that seems to happen most games - the Gophs are getting beat in every phase of the game. They have lost the battle for the loose puck more this year than they have in the last 10 combined.
When they struggled a few years back in the late 90's, they were still outshooting their opponents most nights.
This years team is getting outskated.
I don't remember to many Gopher teams EVER being outskated.
They are young, but they will have to suck it up.
Go Gophs-Happy New Year- Let's restart in 2008

Hey GB, any word on a goalie recruit for next year? I havent heard anything but my ears havent been that low to the ground either.Gopher Blog wrote:I am sure New Jersey will sign him and say the Gophers didn't develop him.![]()
Frazee has a lot of talent but he has a fragile psyche.![]()
I wouldn't be sad if he signs with NJ in the off-season. I'd rather take my chances with Kangas and a goalie recruit next year.
I too think Kangas is the answer for the rest of the year and throughout his college career. Good positioning, good rebound control (for the most part) and he is a leader on the ice. I had the priviledge of watching him a month or so back and he is probably the most vocal player on the ice. That kind of leadership will get the team somewhere...

The only sure thing is they are bringing in a walk on goalie to replace Solei. I believe they are recruiting a goalie for 2009 but with the possibility of moving that player up to fall of 2008 should Frazee go pro after the year is over.newsguy35 wrote:Hey GB, any word on a goalie recruit for next year? Any candidates for the walk on position or the 2009 recruit? I am actually hoping Frazee takes off after the year. More playing time for Kangas and the back up would probably see some time as well since they both would be young. Chances that it could be a MN boy?Gopher Blog wrote:The only sure thing is they are bringing in a walk on goalie to replace Solei. He could have been.... if he hadn't decided to quit the game when he did. He would have had two more years to be their main guy. Oh well....newsguy35 wrote:I actually thought Weber could have been better as well if he was given more of an opportunity...
Looks like Kangas will be the #1 guy after tonight.
You didnt have the priviledge of getting beat by Mr Frazee in a section championship game, that has always been eating at me and probably will never end... Now to watch him play in the maroon and gold so poorly.. yea my head hurts after friday and saturday nights...theref wrote:Personally, I just wanted them to replay that breakaway goal again to see just how many beach balls we could have fit between those pads!Sorry, never was a Frazee fan and don't think I ever will be.
Haha, yeah that would be tough. Apparently all you guys needed to do was shoot the puck 5-hole........or probably just about anywhere on net.newsguy35 wrote:You didnt have the priviledge of getting beat by Mr Frazee in a section championship game, that has always been eating at me and probably will never end... I suppose there is that chance he turned in the performance of a lifetime because I surely haven't seen that while he's been with the Gophers.

Ouch, you can only hope that something like that does not (or doestheref wrote:haha, What didn't happen with Frazee........him stopping the puck is what didn't happen.highschoolhockeyfann wrote:sry i will work on that.
I still recall that goal against the Sioux last year....ughhhh

Yeah, unfortunately evertime Frazee plays I try to look away....I miss watching Gopher hockey.......hehehighschoolhockeyfann wrote:Ouch, you can only hope that something like that does not (or doestheref wrote:haha, What didn't happen with Frazee........him stopping the puck is what didn't happen.highschoolhockeyfann wrote:sry i will work on that.

Isn't Frazee a good example of the kid that shines brightly early, then kind of fizzles? When he went out to Ann Arbor his stock started to drop, but everyone seemed to think that when he got back home and suited up for the Gophs, he'd come out of the doldrums. Then of course, he's the center of the "under-age drinking issues" with Channel 9's undercover reporting. Whether that made things worse, or just brought to light where some of the issues were, we may never know for sure. I feel bad for the kid, in a way. The spotlight can be a tough place to play, and he may have had it shining on him a little early.

Frazee has been such a let down its unbelievable. Not only that but he's a punk off the ice as well. I saw him talk smack to a kid about 5'7 at a local uptown bar and get punched in the face and get knocked out cold. He needs to realize that he still needs to perform for the devils to even think about signing him. He needs a ton of work.

The Devils won't sign him. They have enough good goalies in the system. Frazee played well in two World Tourney's three years ago and hasn't done a thing since.
Maybe he had a little "liquid courage" in him?nikebauerhockey21 wrote:Frazee has been such a let down its unbelievable. Not only that but he's a punk off the ice as well. Too bad they don't make "liquid stop-the-puck"RLStars wrote:Maybe he had a little "liquid courage" in him?nikebauerhockey21 wrote:Frazee has been such a let down its unbelievable.
