Final

South 5
North 2

South scoring
Haglund (3)
Brevig
Houserman

North scoring
Johnson
Grose

Dissapointing to see north get manhandled the way they did tonight...though it would be a lot closer....north scored a meaningless pp goal with 3 min to go. Otherwise it was worse than the score suggests

Shots were both in the mid 20s. Arentz played well ealry but gave up a few softies towards the end...he's still young. He will be back. He's a good goaltender. Yumusaklar played well. S3eemed to be in control the whole time, u have to get guys in front of him to create screens and rebounds to beat him. You aren't able to beat him clean.

Can't wait for the rematch. North should put up more of a fight.

Simon and the Binders did okay. Simon didnt really impact the game a ton, at least as far as scoring chances go. Brandon Binder played pretty well, along with all the South D, but North didnt get alot of second chances. They didnt crash the net very well and that makes things pretty easy for Hawk. Jake Binder had a breakaway and played pretty well. His line seemed to always be buzzing North with the forecheck (not sure if Billy was on Binders line or not I didnt really look).

All around it was a pretty lopsided game by South. Shots were close but not a ton of scoring chances for North. Arentz didnt play terrible, one real bad one but the rest werent bad (not great either though). North needs to start to stick with one goalie. They have gone every other game with Thomas and Arentz and they cant do that all year.

I was on the North bandwagon at the beginning of the year but they have looked terrible lately and now they have to earn my respect back. southhockey00 said it the best when he said North has 3 good players and then a bunch of borderline JV kids. Vivant, Grose and Johnson are all good players but they cant do it all. Johnson and Grose scored today but they need some offense coming from somewhere else.

Yes, the favorites right now are Lakeville South, Owatonna, and Mayo...none of which have any big wins on their docket... minus South beating North. At this point, even a team like Century could make it to state. That's okay, we made people at the Xcel think maybe 1AA was on the rise last year, Century can bring that back to the mediocrity it was before. :o

North beat EP, that is a big win.

Mayo just beat Hibbing 6-1 (Roseau beat them 6-0), so I am thinking that is a pretty big win as well.

I think several of the teams in 1AA are underrated......now are any of them elite teams? No, I would not go so far as to say that, but they could surprise some teams.

One thing I am seeing from across the state is more parity than people recoginize.....teams will need to show up for three periods every night or something bad could happen. Each game is different, but if you compare scores - which can be an indication - some of the best teams can get hammered by average to good teams when they forget to show up.

1AA is wide open and I don't think anything will change that as the season contiues.

With that being said, I would hate to be say Jefferson, Hill Murray, or Centennial in the state tournament and have an off night against a Mayo, Owatonna, or Lakeville South because you could get burned....all three have goalies who can steal games on any given night....and all three could be blasted 6-0!
