If I Were Coach........

Post by breakout »

Matching up against other teams best players.........your thoughts?

Not matching up............foolish?

Pick any team you are aware of...........maybe your home town team:

If you were coaching against them, how would you match up against that team with your players?

How would you look to exploit other teams with your teams assets?

DEPTH is the main concern. If teams dont have a solid 3 lines then its tough to match lines. Some teams match players or assign a shadow to a player so that they dont have time or space but in reality, you cant make adjustments if you dont have the depth.

So if you cannot adjust, what good is the coach?

I fail to see where your coming from with this statement.... You can always make adjustments as a coach.

Matching the right defensive pairing is more important to me than matching forwards--with the exception of having a good center who is usually designated to play higher in the offensive zone. Half of it is getting your players to buy into your game plan.

Adjustments can be made but in reality you cannot match lines if you only have 1 decent one. Sure, you can go out and attempt to switch up the lines to make it more fair but you have to work with what you have. If you have a set of defensemen who are capable of stopping a team, sure you can play them more but 51 minutes every game?

I would agree on the D pairings. Oddly, I have seen some coaches put out their 5th and 6th D against the other teams best players............inattention to game??? Not sure.

Having a good center is important on both sides of the court.

You are forgiven. And Darth Rogers cannot fire you, that responsibility belongs to two other fine gentlemen.
So consider us eased.

If I was a coach..... I would keep my mouth shut to the officials, it only causes them to get upset and then you don't get any calls!!!! Some coaches that I have seen this year do not leave the officials alone, and even I get annoyed, and I am not an official.

If I were coach

Boblee would be the head scout
Zamman would be the head cheerleader
ERE would be the team manager
Can't Never Tried would be the team captain
and we might not win a game.....

Lines

Post by The Best 4th Liner »

Personally my team is really good, not to brag or anything. But I like to match up my 3rd line against other teams 1st line. That way my first and second lines can rack up the points.

Oh get over yourself. As team manager I didn't have a vote, otherwise the outcome would have been different...
