So if the Patriots lose in the playoffs they'll still consider their season a great success? If Park goes undefeated and loses in playoffs none of this garbage talk will matter...To me, undefeated in the reg. season is nice, but it's not that nice if you lose a week later and not reach your ultimate goal..newsguy35 wrote:I am not sure how many REGULAR SEASON games PR will play as I do not have their schedule in front of me. I believe you missed the point, a point that has been noted again and again by sioux... [/b]
I'm rootin' for 'em just as much as anybody, but the only thing that matters is takin' 8A...goin' undefeated when it doesn't matter don't mean crap...

I will have to disagree with you on this one...I COMPLETLY agree taking section 8A is and should be the # 1 priority..and I feel that yes it is more important that going undefeated...but it is STILL a feat in it self to not lose a regular season game...ur right it may not mean anything in sections (besides a decent seed)..but it does show that they can be consistant with a "W"...I know its not over yet but Im still rootin for em to take everything...including an 8a title...schwang17 wrote:So if the Patriots lose in the playoffs they'll still consider their season a great success? By them going undefeated it is showing not only the rest of the section but also themselves that they are worthy to play a few of the tougher teams. They have had a hard time getting tougher opponents on the schedule, after a great season like this maybe teams will play them next season? There is more than the number behind an undefeated season for teams that have been or are still in PR's situation.schwang17 wrote:So if the Patriots lose in the playoffs they'll still consider their season a great success? on top of that, the bold was to get flon back on track... It was not necessarily to point anything else out... The thread's title pretty much tells you what its about.
Wadena did this a few years ago and actually made it to State. Their schedule/team/association hasn't improved...newsguy35 wrote:They have had a hard time getting tougher opponents on the schedule, after a great season like this maybe teams will play them next season? They are having a down year which does not mean the program is going nowhere. Wadena is its own case in its own right, PR is a different as well. The only thing negative that comes from this is the negative attention the critics give it. I dont know why but for some reason ppl give a negative vibe or find a reason to knock down a small town team for its feats on such a year. I would rather congratulate and hope that they are not another case of a small town team with a one year wonder type situation but not everyone shares that feeling...schwang17 wrote:Wadena did this a few years ago and actually made it to State. As for their youth programs in PR, I am sure they are working to build it up. I do not know from personal research or even an insider for that matter but I am sure Stahnke is working hard to get that program moving in the right directions.
I am from PR and would never knock them in a negative manner. Everybody here knows this. I just think you have to be level headed about the situation at hand..newsguy35 wrote:I dont know why but for some reason ppl give a negative vibe or find a reason to knock down a small town team for its feats on such a year. Undefeated records = great accomplishment for such a small program
What does it mean for the future? Time will tell, but I'm guessing not much of a difference..
Now, if Warroad went to where they should play(8AA) we might have a discussion..
Please inform us why Warroad should play in 8aa? I interested in hearing this one.schwang17 wrote:I am from PR and would never knock them in a negative manner. Everybody here knows this. I actually agree with schwang17 on this one. But, like other similar topics, I don't think it'll go anywhere. In the last 30 years Warroad is the most decorated current Class A team, even more so than most (but not all) that have opted up.
That being said, many assumptions made here are that they'd be undefeated in section play. If not, our (or at least mine) opinions are different. If they go undefeated, they will have played and beat most of the section aside from Warroad. They would have home ice for the first game, then not sure how section 8A does it. Yes, on paper putting Park Rapids against Warroad is a no brainer. But if you are to put a 27-0 team against anyone, it's hard to vote against them.

Please inform me why they shouldn't when they are in the Mariucci and their arch rivals(whose enrollment is rather similar) opted up years ago...Flin Flon wrote:Please inform us why Warroad should play in 8aa? I interested in hearing this one.
Same reason Bemidji should be...elliott70 wrote: Me, too
To reiterate my point: It's real simple, if you claim to be "Hockeytown USA" and you're playing in the Single Class tourney you are not worthy of that title, IMO...
Roseau makes Warroad look really bad...

Well while why don't we just take Warroad Bemidji, EGF, TRF and Crookston out of 8a that way good old park rapids can win a section 8a title. Your statement is ridiculous. The Minnesota State high school league says that is where you belong. Maybe if park wants a section title maybe they should lobby the state for a class B tournament.schwang17 wrote:To reiterate my point: It's real simple, if you claim to be "Hockeytown USA" and you're playing in the Single Class tourney you are not worthy of that title, IMO...

Lay off what UHL is smoking, good buddy...TTpuckster wrote:Back to the topic of this tread, I mean thread.
PR will lose 2 games this year.
Both at home.
One on January 24th and one on Feb 5th.
Hate to say it, cause I think it's cool when a team goes undefeated, but those are the facts.
Here's a bit of trivia for you? Name the last team to beat PR at the Community Center..
Take off those Black and Gold colored glasses and attempt to re-gain some of those lost brain cells...EGF, TRF, and Crookston haven't been rated in the top 10 every year since the 2 class system was initiated..Warroad has. It's really not that hard to compute.Flin Flon wrote:Well while why don't we just take Warroad Bemidji, EGF, TRF and Crookston out of 8a that way good old park rapids can win a section 8a title. You are very absent-minded...Flin Flon wrote:So what is Park Rapids excuse for not winning a Section 8a title??? They have an enrollment of about 100 more than Warroad.schwang17 wrote:Roseau sure doesn't use that as an excuse...Flin Flon wrote:Maybe not but they have larger enrollments than Warroad.
It is not the size of your school district or community...schwang17 wrote:Roseau sure doesn't use that as an excuse...Flin Flon wrote:Maybe not but they have larger enrollments than Warroad.
they have little to do with it....
It is the size and quality of your youth hockey program.
Warroad will struggle (based on current players) come future HS years.
EGF, TRF, Crookston and Bemidji will be at the top.
Roseau will continue to compete well with Moorhead, Brainerd, Buffalso, St Cloud (the double A schools).
