A very good pick up for the Gophers for 2010. He and Walters are a hell of a start to that recruiting class.

Anyone know if he's related to John Schmidt?

Answer: No. No relation between the two.
John was a great hockey coach (coached me in bantams). Surprised he hasn't tried to coach at a higher level.
Also, I believe John Schmidt was the D-partner of Gopher's coach Don Lucia while the two played at Notre Dame.

You are correct George. John is one of the finest players to come out of St Cloud.

Yeah, forget about tradition, a good education, and everything else the U has over SCSU...
But hey, we could always just count championship rings

Hopefully with this new core of solid players the gophs are bringing, they can put an end to the random wave of losing the gophers are dealing with, hopefully it will end before all these guys show up though......
