Any thoughts and/or predictions on tonights game?
If Apollo can come out and play like they did against Brainerd they should be able to beat Tech. The problem is that I've only seen Apollo play that well once this year and I don't know if they have the consistency to do it in back to back games.

Good point, I have a feeling special teams will play a big part in this one. As for the Brainerd game, I don't know the exact number but I want to say it was relatively low. Somewhere around 3-4Stealth wrote:How many penalties did Apollo have in Brainerd game?
That could be the variable?

Watching Tech earlier in the year and watching them now they are a different team. Yes they had a blowup game against SR and they lost to Moorhead, but they were supposed to. I just don't see the Apollo offense getting by a pretty successful Tiger defense. Also, unless the eagles defense plays well, I just don't see them stopping a strong first line for the Tigers.
But, being high school hockey and a very good rivalry game, I can't be sure of anything. It will be a good game though I am not sure if I can make it their or not, depends if work obides.

what a bold prediction being that tech beat apollo 7-0 just a few weeks ago. how do you think apollo would do against moorhead? it wouldnt be fun to watch. The moorhead jv team would beat apallos varsity.nsideHocKey17 wrote:Tech is not a good team. They got killed by Moorhead. also theyy lost ta sr and apollo beat em.

Doubtful.
Does anyone know if Jared Maetche is going to be in the line up tonight?
I'd say he is a very key player for tech's offense and if he's on the ice it will be a comletly different game.
With Maetche playing:
Tech- 6
Apollo- 2
Without Maetche:
Tech- 4 - en
Apollo- 2

This is a cross town game with high tension (penalties could break out) and I just don’t see the same game coming this soon. Just too early (two games in row) to ask of Apollo to continue to clean up and play a nice competitive game on the ice instead of the box.
It shows it help to have there kids on the ice instead of the box. Brainerd is very good and I was impressed with the score. Very respectable box score.
Tech 5
Apollo 3
They will flip if the same team as Tuesday shows up. Place safe / play hard! Good luck to both!

This will be a good match up this time around. Tech crushed apollo last time they played in the GCC. If Apollo can come out and play a good game with staying out of the box. it will be close..
But the thing is do you even think apollo can last a game with as few penalties as Brainerd.....
Doubtful...
Tech takes this one 6-3

So what you're saying is that Jared Maetche has the same presence on the ice as:Jared maetche is a solid player but does not effect the team any more than the other top 4 fowards. As I said before he is good; but he is overrated.
1.Alex Coulter
2. Joe Aplin
3. Grant Spainer
4. Cole lovdahl? Alex Kennedy?
Alex Coulter is the only one out of this list that is even close to the same caliber of Jared Maetche.
I would say that Jared Maetche is the 2nd best player in the area next to Cathedral's Nate Schmidt (IMO)
To say that Jared Maetche doesn't effect the team anymore then a top forward for tech like Grant Spainer is moronic. I would much rather be on the ice with Maetche then Spanier. Grant Spainer is a good varsity player but he can't make the plays like Maetche can and has no where close to the finishing skills maetche has.
