Any time you have average players doing a below average job the result will likely be the same. #19 got smoked TIME, and TIME, and TIME again. I saw more odd man rushes last night than perhaps all season long.

This team could not connect a pass to save their lives.

Brucie needs to dig deep into the magic bag if this team is going to flourish.

Agree #19 was horrible,Rendell was the only D playing D Good goaltending by underwood the score could have been alot worse.GR had scoring chances but most shots where into the goalie, never seen the puck go threw a goalie yet.

Disagree about #19, he had some rough spots, but they all did. #18 was the one who played horrible, and in my opinion, the underrated Bishop played the best of the bunch. Not perfect, but consistent and very physical. Underwood stood on his head, especially in the 2nd. GR's chances were often mistimed, chalk it up to an off night...it happens.

I have to give East credit, they were the much better team tonight. Based on what I've been reading about their past games, I didn't expect to see this coming. Typical East team with good speed and a very good breakout. As far as Rapids goes, we saw the same things that have been haunting them all season. Defensemen getting caught out of position for odd-man rushes and a very ineffective power play. The boys have to start shooting the puck! I thought they figured that out after the
Hermantown game. They play around with the puck way too much. Once again, Underwood was very good in the nets. This is a great group of young men and I believe they'll be ready come tournament time.

Norcon, as usual your analysis is right on the money.
The defensemen need to stay at home a bit more.
I like their offensive skills but against a good team like the hounds it's probably best to stay at home.

This is a very good bunch of players. I still look for them to represent Section 7AA at State.

Anoka

First off, obviously, the head-to-head matchups. East controlled Anoka, Pulled one out in Rapids, and lost to Cloquet. That alone is a pretty convincing case.

Anoka lost to Wayzata tonight; they're 7-4 against a schedule nowhere near the other top teams in 7AA. They did beat Blaine; I'll get a better feel for how impressive that was after East plays them in 2 weeks. But their next most impressive win is probably Elk River. They also got killed by Centennial. Right now I'm more inclined to believe their upset of East last year was flukey and they just don't scare me.

Rapids may be down, and Cloquet may be maddeningly inconsistent, but they're East's rivals, and also draw huge fan bases at sections. The upset potential just feels a lot higher there.
The smaller the rink Anoka plays on...the better they are...the DECC is 190 x 85...do the math :D ...that's the rink they beat East on last year...and Anoka is 9-4...can't you count Karl?

Anoka had won 4 in a row...but since it was a non-conf game, they're coaches opted to play their # 2 goalie vs. Wayzata on an Olympic size rink...he didn't play well...they lost...BFD...end of story.

East got all the breaks the 1st time around....a shot from O'Neill labeled for the top corner on a 2-1 break inexplicably hits the knob of the East goalies stick  and O'Neill also missed a back-hand tap-in on another 2-1...Anoka will be very tough at the DECC in February...mark my words...and another thing...they will beat GR in a few weeks...as the IRA is also a small rink...by my recollection.

I woudn't have said it if I didn't believe it...will the game be played in the old IRA rink?

Anoka's weakness is that they're D are big and physical..but not particularly quick on a large ice sheet...this is somewhat mitigated on a smaller rink..Anoka also just moved one of they're so called BIG 3 forwards to the 2nd line to better balance their top 2 lines...Anoka often goes with 2 lines during close games in the 3rd period and overtime.

Brainerd is a pretty good team this year...Virginia and Hermantown are not.

Let's see... big physical D that are slow(edge goes to GR's speedy forwards)only play 2 lines in close games in 3rd period or overtime(sounds like 99.9% of the teams in the state)You haven't made a case that makes me believe in your statement. Thanks for coming out though, bye, bye. :D

And GR's speedy fowards would be...Roy..Palaki (sp) and ??? :o

Rendle is a very good D...I'll will give you that.

And would someone please let me know if the Anoka-GR game will be played on the IRA Arena...the same fast rink used in the late 70's?

Anoka has 2 forwards who are clearly better than any of GR's forwards and another who is just as good as their best (Roy) As long as Anoka gets strong goaltending, they will win...they got strong goaltending vs. Blaine and won 3-1 :)

The speedy forwards are : Roy, Sparen, Palki, Moore, Prokop, Dumm, Greniger, Skrbec, Schulte, Shaw, etc... Rendle is a very, very good D, as is Kosak and Bishop. The refurbished(since the '70s) IRA Civic Center is the venue. If you get strong goaltending, more often than not, you have a chance to win the game. Any other questions?

Shane Greniger is the fastest forward on the team. Robb Roy has very nice wheels, as does Nate Dumm. Jack Moore and Tony Palkki are above average speed. Rendle is a very fast defenseman.

Lot of big talk for team that plays there share of cupcakes. We'll see who the better team is in a couple weeks. Rapids record doesn't reflect their quality of play this season. The only game they didn't show up for was against East. They totally outplayed Forest Lake, but ran into a hot goaltender. Rapids will start to see the rewards for playing the tough
schedule they do in the next few weeks.

Anokas wins came against:

Hastings, Elk River, Maple Grove, North Metro, Coon Rapids, Kennedy, Eagan, Blaine & Andover, the only true cupcake of the bunch being Kennedy

Losses against: Centennial, DE (Very good teams) Hopkins, who is undefeated... but not as good as Cent or DE (IMO)...and Wayzata...laegely due to playing their #2 goalie on the road.

They play in the NW Suburban Conference for God Sakes...Get a clue Norcon

We all know you are john's dad, so please just admit your son was outplayed by the hounds, and get over it. don't think you will even be in the final.
