A cannot respect you because you live in Douglas.Rocket78 wrote:Mayo is very prone to getting dumb penalties. I predict Century 4-2 - with 2 PP goals and 1 empty netter. Faupel will have a dominating game and Century will harrass Thauwald and Alexander to make them ineffective.

Faupel is not a stand out player. He had a great year last year because of Knoepke and Grimstad. They only stand out on Century is Ordahl, and you could say Ewing has his moments.
Century took more penalties than Mayo last time they played, and I don't see anything changing; both teams will take a bunch. It will come down to the better specialty teams play, and Mayo's power play is too good for Century.
Mayo 4, Century 2

L4P, I live in a van down by the creek (river?)
. Not exactly DownTown Douglas.
I hope Mayo does take this game because I (like everyone else) do not like Century. Mayo has more depth at forward and if Yaggy is 'on' then things will go well. Mayo's D is actually better defensively than in the past 8 years since their D don't think they are the 4th and 5th forwards. On the flip side Mayo's D, other than Webber, don't really get help much in the attacking zone. Mayo's PP looked pretty good the few games that I have attended. On this forum I have read a lot of criticism of Mayo's D but I think it would be interesting to count the number of times CT or MA backcheck or come inside their D zone. That leaves the defense a man short. Century is light now that all the VFW players are going to Lourdes instead of Century as they have for the past 6 years. Special Teams will win or lose this game.

I don't know what to think anymore...minus the Rosemount game Century has turned a corner... a tie @ LN and a total romping of JM boosted my confidence too much. Yeah, Mayo will probably win again, but wouldn't it be funny if they tied? I think the student sections would probably riot.
Fantasy - Martini is becoming the de facto equivalent to last year's Faupel, a surprise goal scorer...he scores two... and Century pulls it off in overtime 3-2.
Reality - As much as Century needs a respectable win, they're not ready for one yet. I suspect it'll be 3-2 Mayo, just not in OT.

Mayo's defense has been just terrible the past 2 games. The first Century/Mayo game was strange; Mayo's first goal was 5 feet offsides and their third goal never went in. The officiating was bad and inconsistant both ways. The 3-1 score wasn't indictitive of how the game went as each team had 30 shots. Mayo really needs the game more than Century because they're supposed to win, I would think Mayo should win but if things go south for them early they don't have the discipline to overcome it. Century can almost turn a bad season around with a win, Mayo's can go even further south with a loss. Century has nothing to lose, Mayo has a lot to lose. Century 4 Mayo 2

I think it would be smarter if they go with yaggy......steinmetz is alright i just dont think that he is good enough to perform in a way that will give mayo a good advantageHShockey2180 wrote:I would think they would want to play Yaggy, but since he's started the last 2 games i think it might be steinmetz

Well another prospect to watch for in this game will be hoppenworth from mayo. He's a solid D and doesn't let much by him, he moves the puck well, great skater, and a good shot. he plays with a passion and plays the body very well. With him leading the point men along with weber schubauer oetliker and anderson Mayo should be able to shut down century and capitilize their oppurtunities (BAT line) and Thauwald leading to a big W.
I say 4-2 Mayo if yaggy is in net.

Could this be Mr. Hoppenworth himself?Gophs_Fan 12345 wrote:Well another prospect to watch for in this game will be hoppenworth from mayo. Are you kidding me SE NUT...There is no doubt who I was referring to when I predicted 6-0. No doubt that good hockey players need to make good plays to play a good game. No doubt Mayo HAS players that make good plays. No doubt Mayo 6-0. Penalties over under: 15?....I would no doubt pick the under this time. Mayo will have 3 PP goals and 1 PK goal.
On another note: Hoppenworth a prospect....for what? He hits a bit, but the skating is suspect.
The best prospect on the Mayo blue line is the Ottlicker kid. Big, plays body, moves puck up the wall and into neutral when wings are not down for breakout(which has been a lot of the time lately), skates well for big kid.

I'd be pissed to if a goal got called off in a close game like that. Also if you watched the game much I could count on one hand how many times the "BAT" line played together out there. If I'm not mistaking the goal they did score the "BAT" line was on the ice.
how bout them spartans tonight?? i think the final was 3-1 CENTURY o and how bout that BAT line? and when they called the goal off alexander looked good slamming his stick and throwing a little tantrum
It seems that if a team can get into Alexander's head, he gets off his game. After seeing the freak-out session on KTTC, I am starting to think it will hurt the Spartans in the long run and sections.
Century played well tonight, little let down in the 2nd, but came out with the win. Ewing played good, yaggay, did alright. Mayors D just handed 14 a breakaway in the 1st goal, and they didn't look to impressive all night. BAT line was shutdown well, and good fore-check by the panthers.
Funny how it goes from 16 penalties to about 3-4? I think if the reffs let the cross-town teams play it is a better game
As far as the goal being called off, there was a guy behind Ewing clearly the right call, and that isn't the only time Alexander has lost his cool. He is a headcase somegames

Beginning this season in Minnesota HS hockey you can be in the crease as long as you are not clearly interfering with the goalie.
