HockeyFan1,
I would have to agree on your summary. Roseau hasn't seen a team all year with similar speed as themselves and it was apparent for the better part of two periods that the Roughriders speed and forecheck caused some problems until they adjusted. Mike Lee showed why he is one of the top goaltenders in the state as he kept the Rams in this one until they came around in the second half of the second period.

You need to give a lot of credit to Red River and their coaching staff as they showed that they are right up there with the top teams in Minnesota. Overall, I think the Rams will take this game and learn from it and make them better.

One of the best high school hockey games I have ever watched. I thought RR should have won this one. The call that was made with 53 seconds left was terrible. If RR had both their top two defenseman in the end of the game it might have turned out differently. It was really fun watching the best player in Minnesota play though. Great game overall, FSN should have been there for this one.

When it comes to consistency, I can't think of a HS hockey team that has had more of it. I can't remember RR ever being bad, the range of their worst and best teams over the last thirty years is pretty narrow.

On the same token, their youth numbers have always been great for its population. As a pup, I remember playing in a squirt league with GF, we played all winter and never played the same team twice. Now when I think of it, we didn't have chance with all those kids funneling into two HS schools.

Take away the questionable call and the fluky bounce and it is 0-0 going into overtime. Maybe the call shouldn't have been called at that point in the game but from where I was at, I saw the RR player grab the Roseau Player arm as they went for the puck but like I said take away those two questionable situations and 0-0 going into overtime. And anyone remember what the penalties where. Seems Roseau killed off alot more pentalties.

I watched the news last nite and Scott Oliver was on there. To sum up what he said was he felt like they stole one from RR. He siad he didnt see the call but the way the whole arena acted last nite it was probably not a good one. He said that RR will probably be the best team they have faced all year unless they meet edina somewhere along the lines.

I saw the play. I used to be a ref. Here is my take. IF your goin to call that at this point in the game, u better call it all game. I saw multiple plays that were a lot worse then this. Both the plyers got tangled up and they both got up and the Ram player fell down somehow and the Ref saw the end of this play im guessing with the ram player on the ice and they are still tangled up and called it.

Good Call or Bad Call.
Both teams are high quality teams.

It seems to me that no matter the arena Roseau plays in people are complaining that Roseau gets the calls. It gets kind of old after awhile. Consider this a great game and move on.

I agree the bad call and bad bounce offset and Roseau wins 1-0 in OT.

Red River has a great team. They can be proud. Grand Forks is a hockey town even if it's in ND. I would agree with several others, that RR got a fluke goal and Roseau got the favor of a bad call. The 2 offset and the games tied 0-0. Roseau had a slight shot advantage at 31-29, but it seems RR had a couple of great chances they missed on. Let's face it this game was very evenly matched, and Roseau just managed to get the game winner - which happened when both teams were at full strength in OT. I hope FSN is paying attention a chooses to broadcast this matchup in the future.

Thanks for the link to this article. It was a good read. I posted in this forum on January 14 that Red River would be the toughest team we've faced, and I think it proved to be true.
