1/16/08 Scores & Updates
2 games tonight...
For you poor, unfortunate folks who are unable to be at neither the Parade Ice Garden nor State Fair Coliseum, you will find updates from those historic venues here in this thread.

End of 1:
Como Park: 3
Johnson: 1
Shots:
Johnson: 14
Como Park: 12
Don't let the shots fool you, this one is almost all Como so far. First the Saints beat Breck, and now this?! What the hell is going on down there on Rice St?!
Note for those of you scoring at home... Give Jason Schmidt an assist on the Johnson goal, and give one to Max Paitich on the 2nd Como goal.

This is a calamity. I haven't seen any team play this badly in 2 years. Como is doing just about everything right... although they've been in the box quite a bit. Doesn't matter though - all they've done is hit a cherry picker on a breakaway.

Mpls East vs West update
I noticed there wasn't an update on the game from the other side of the river so I thought I would chime in.
Last night was Minneapolis Hockey Alumni night and the atmosphere was fantastic. Posted around the arena at Parade were tributes to all of the former highschool teams from Minneapolis with photos and old yearbook pages dating back to the 40's. Many alums were there and the arena was almost at capacity.
The game did not disapoint. The fans and the energy was as good as it gets for a high school contest. The Students cheering for both the East and West teams were louder than any game I have been in attendance at this year. Almost 1/2 of the arena was students that generated a great deal of motivation to the players on both teams.
The game finished with the West beating the East 4-2. For those that do not know the West is comprised of students from Southwest, Washburn, Henry and North. The East is students from South, Edison, and Roosevelt.
The scoring was:
West
Chris Ransom - 2goals
Jack Behm - 1 goal
Ritchie Roth - 1 goal
East
Nick Pnewski - 1 goal
Zak Shaow - 1 goal
Nick Dudero turned away 31 shots for the East and Cooper White turned away 25 for the West.
For those that choose to only go to the elite games on the schedule you are missing what I believe the true High school sports experience is about. I read where people were surprised that there were so few fans at the "Big" game on Tuesday between Holy Angels and Hill Murray. This game would have given that one a run fr their money in regards to energy, excitement, and overall enjoyment. These two teams play each other one more time on February 14. This is the rubber match between these two teams as East beat West 3-2 in overtime in the first game of the season. The quality of the play may not be on par with the top teams but the game itself is.
