Few things stir one’s soul like music can. On the way into the salt mines today I turned on the radio and crawling in blaze orange letters across the reciever’s LCD it hit me like a lightning bolt. Yes: It Can Happen.

You know what, Yes, It Can Happen.

It can happen to you,
It can happen to me,
It will happen eventually.

Maybe it has never happened, maybe it doesn’t look like it is going to happen, but just remember, Yes, It can Happen.

Maybe your team is trying to recapture just a brief taste of its past glory, maybe the girls basketball team has captured the resources, hearts and emotions of your school

, maybe there is a sectional edinasty unwilling to relinquish a piece of their cake, maybe PS2 has you buried in triple digits. Whatever your case, whatever your reason, just remember, Yes, It Can Happen.

Yah, a lot of really smart people have told us "NO: It Can't Happen"

No metro area team can win the state tournament. Dont have ice long enough. Johnson and Edina said "YES: It Can Happen"

Well, no team south of the metro will ever win. Rochester JM replied "YES:It Can Happen"

Your team cant make it to the state tournament, they arent good enough and they lost twice already to the best team. Many, many teams have responded with "YES: It Can Happen"

The Northern teams cant win anymore. They are too small and are "out of it". Roseau said oh "YES:It Can Happen"

Can it happen? It already has.

Some said TRF couldn't make it happen as they assembled their once in a decade team two seasons ago.

It wasn't easy, it took four OT's to bring down the one for whom it happens often.

But YES: It did happen.

Therefore,

YES: It Can Happen.

Can we really say that we see a winner in that picture? If you ask me (since Wednesday), when we have to witness the anguish on a young (or old - like me for example) man's face, we should take a moment to stop and reflect upon the human element, and remember that, in life, there are no "winners" or "losers". Generally speaking....yes. But as long as the MSHSL decides to use 51 minutes, 45 in your day, as a benchmark of time to determine what actually happened between the JV game and the time hundreds of people take to their windshields with a sharp piece of plastic, the brotherhood of man is on pause.

Tonight we have some teams that have a great opportunity to make It Happen.
LOW (#125) vs. Park Rapids (#82)
Holy Family Catholic (#79) vs. St. Cloud Cathedral (#32)
Rochester Century (#73) vs. Duluth East (#9)
Bemidji (#77) vs. Roseau (#5)
Prairie Center (#124) vs. Little Falls (#39)
Some New Jersey Team vs. Breck, I have to give them credit for displaying the intestinal fortitude to venture this far down the Road to Constantinople, and some people think Roseau is a long way to travel.
